Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I don't think he knows we exist. If he saw the real bike schwag that is purchased by the members here, I reckon he'd be here.

You're public opinion about your in-laws is highly suspect, given that your wife is a member here.

Good question, as far as which world. Saturday, it was a good world.

Velo Vol does ride, and puts together nice photo essays of his more epic rides.

Bdop is helpful in many threads, plus his blog was/is a good read. Though, things have slowed down a tad.

I don't ride a typical Rando bike, though I did do a 300K on my 81 Puch. It was raining, and it has fenders, but I honestly thought it was never going to end.

O' Boobigan's sounds like they took it so far over the top young women will actually go in there for the cheesy Bond style masculinity of it all. The name alone makes it a tourist destination though.

Are you planning on bringing back some corn liquor or a Tickle t-shirt, WhyFi? Maybe some remaindered hair tonic or liniment the inlaws don't have room for.

My veggie Ex used to just skip the steak @the Acropolis and they'd let her hit the salad bar a couple of times - the meal came with salad bar baked or fried taters and TX toast

I don't think it's that at all. Ironically, those outside folks are WAY more addicted than us - they don't care to (or can't) talk about anything else but bikes.

I had a stretch a couple of years back where I didn't fall below 300 miles/week for 10+ weeks.

That was too much riding. Even for Uncle Pcad.

But if the health issues calm down, 10K is an easy target for 2012, maybe even 12K. That's MILES you metric losers, not km.

100 miles is enough for me.

I'm two weeks away from extending The Streak to two years.

Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow, nor rogue ani levators have sidelined Velo Vol during this amazing run.
