I don't care if folks thought a couple months later was too soon for a new puppy. Indy needed Georgia-Mae, before that, Apryl needed Indy, before that... On and on. But, even before that, a home isn't a home without them, so ultimately, we all need each other.
A dog will again roam the house. Next year or so, although my wife is thinking sooner than later. |
Prayers for Sam and hope for good news.

My dogs and cats have kept me alive for the past 6 weeks.

It's such a personal decision. For us, there was a new addition on the way and plenty of collateral issues involved.

They help RUOkie. It's good they're there, even if they do pounce at 3 am.

Thanks to all. From our perspective a surgery that grants Sam 6-12 more healthy months (worst case scenario) is a no-brainer, that's like a human getting 3-7 more years of life. I want to walk him a few more times. Sit on the front stoop with him on warm days. Bask in his canine zen.

Hi All,
I have't had time to be on any of my forums. I just skimmed over just some of the threads. @ Herbie 53 - I hope your dog healed well from the aural hematoma. @LowCel - I hope your dad is recovering well. I'm sure the sutures, if not done by laser, is out and your Rat Terrier is on the mend and fiesty as ever. I'm sorry to hear about your sinus/migraines. I think I asked before about the foods you eat. You've had a rough last year with illness. Your immune system needs to be stronger. Top migraine-inducing foods identified include: Wheat, Cow's milk, Grain cereals, Cane sugar, Yeast, Corn, Citrus, Eggs avoid gluten foods. Certain food additives, such as aspartame and MSG cause headaches and triggers migraines. Migraines are related to mitochondrial dysfunction, so one of the most critical dietary supplements is ubiquinol (the reduced form of Coenzyme Q10). Other helpful supplements include magnesium, vitamin B2, B6 and B12, along with folic acid. I think Feverfew can also help. @Miyataman vs. Whooosshhh http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=292579 @Truckstop - I just saw Lewis Black on t.v. last night - he's a really funny guy! @TampaRaleigh - sending positive healing energy for your wife. @IS01 - I'm 200% with you re: SA. @SA, you are really lucky you didn't get into a car accident and perhaps kill someone. Fact is, you are not in control if you spent 2 hrs. on the phone with Dolly after telling us it's completely over and you have to move along. @PCAD - I'm so sorry to hear about Sam. I know exactly how you feel & what you're going through. I went through this when Bernie was 10 years old and was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor. BTW, MCT is very common in Goldens. I'm wondering if Sam had a MCT and spread to his tummy. Do you know if it spread to other organs or lymph nodes? The Oncologist wanted to amputate his leg. I went holistic. I changed his diet and gave him a host of supplements incl. chinese. He went to the bridge @ 15 yo with all four legs and cancer wasn't the cause. In addition, he had 1/2 his thyroid removed due to cancer. Cancer isn't necessarily a death sentence. You might want to change Sam's diet and do research. Join a Golden forum. Here's a good support group for all breeds. http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/CanineCancer/ http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/CanineCancerComfort/ I got Kevin when Bernie was 10 years old. It made a world of difference to Bernie. Kevin was turning 4 yo. I took Kevin with me to the Vet so that he wouldn't wonder where Bernie was. As we left the room, Kevin stood up on the table and smelled Bernie - it was really sad!! I know I'll always have a hole in my heart. It's been a year and I still cry when I look at his pics or think of him. For Humans & Furry Kids - sending positive healing energy to all http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=292580 |

Man, you lose these pets or face losing them and you realize how important they are in your life. They bring so much daily joy. I'm writing a song about Sam now. I think he'll have to be gone for a while before I can play it without crying. But I find writing songs really helps you work through this stuff. I guess that's the whole idea. In the end, you play your music for you, and if it's the truth (and you can manage to play and sing in tune) maybe other people will relate to it. But any kind of art is for the person creating it, and if others like it, that's a bonus. |

I know I mentioned this when I first started posting on this thread, but food is very important to a pet's health as well as over-vaccinating. I just got this article: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news/...ss-010813.html I have been encouraging pet parents for years to learn about the ingredients in pet foods and to read labels. Cancer is too common in our furry kids. Food, environment, genetics, over vaccinations are probable causes. The average person is feeding their dog/cat a brand that could have been recalled and they wouldn't have a clue. They go to the Vet, spend $$ on tests and most likely it's the brand that is the cause. In '07 thousands of pets died from pet food. Unfortunately, we don't have our furry kids for as long as we'd like, so enjoy every minute you have with them. I tried to walk out of the room and not let Bernie see me cry after he was diagnosed. It was really tough looking into his eyes without crying. |
