Good grief, I gave up beer and Marlboros, but that's as far as it friggin goes.

I won't let Sam smoke anymore. He'll hate that, but he'll understand.

i've given up meat. i will live to 100.

We want a golden. But you don't find goldens in animal shelters. I've been watching the local shelters for a few years now. And if you try to rescue a golden, by the time you call or email, the dog has been rescued. Very popular breed, I'm surprised there aren't more in shelters, but I don't think they get abandoned so frequently and if they do wind up in a shelter they get adopted quickly. So you really don't have much choice but to go to a pet store or breeder, I'd never go the pet store route, we know how to find a reputable breeder.

I would assume responsible people place their dog with a rescue group vs. shelter. It might take some time, but I'd call reputable breeders and rescue groups. It took me 4 months before I found Kevin. I was looking for an older dog, not puppy. You can place your name on a "wait list."

Sorry to hear about Sam.

I think if you explain your saga as we all know it, the Judge will feel sorry for you & just slap you around a few times.

I expected this type of response from you.

A new pup will measure up just fine. Maybe not the same way, but still just fine.

What are you saying?

I moved to the Volunteer State when I was five, and have been here (sans a couple years of schooling) since. Does that make me the equivalent of a "native"? Someone crunch the data in a spreadsheet.

Make yourself a necklace of beetroot. That'll clear it right up.

Disappointingly, no. i haven't seen much of tn west of nashville. besides memphis' airport.

i really liked chattanooga though. nashville was kind of awful, but that might be because i nearly fell of my motorbike from heat exhaustion while riding back home from a weekend of riding around northeast georgia, and then got harassed downtown in the touristy area by professional pan-handlers. knoxville was just a drive by.

i could see settling in somewhere in appalachia.

I'm sure you would enjoy riding the Tail of the Dragon, if you've not already done so. Just try not to run off the road and kill yourself.

i have a few times. it's ok, but there are many, many less overhyped and better roads in the area. Not surprisingly, many of them are enjoyed by cylists as well. the area this takes place in was the same destination for my trips to georgia. http://www.cyclenorthgeorgia.com/

the route there and back usually included deal's gap.

red or golden?

had to buy golden beets on my last trip to the grocery, as that's all that was available in the organic section. (i juice them.) i'm not sure how they compare to the red kind, but i'm curious if they'll cause a new form of beeturia.

An alternating pattern would be nice.

I couldn't describe the taste difference between red and golden beets. I'm not a beet fan, generally - just taste like dirt to me. However, Mrs. rjones28's trick to get me to eat my beets is to roast them. That improves the flavor.

If all goes according to the non-spreadsheet based plan, a longdistancecomfortablecirclethestatetouringbike. With any luck, it will be Schwinnesque.

roasting anything improves flavor... maybe i'll do that with a few.
now i'm dreaming of roasted beets with goat cheese, and candied walnuts... yum. last time i had that was at a restaurant where i also tried pork jowl for the first time. it was ok. the beets were awesome though.

I actually expect to be riding in the Hudson Valley quite a bit in the upcoming 4 years. My eldest is headed to SUNY New Paltz in August. Don't know your locale, but I am already planning to bring my bike when I drop him off to hit Mohonk Mountain.

find someone with a rope and climb High Exposure. Pretty easy climb if you can get over the fear.

Also true. Granola cannot be eaten plain.
