If you can't get through the song the first few times because you're too emotional, you did something right.

If your wife can't listen to it without a box of Kleenex, you did something righter.

Wheels hang in a small closet under the stairs. Tight space. Bikes below, wheels up top. They bang together.

Epidural injections went (mostly) well for Mrs Raleigh yesterday. There was a bit of a scare when a migraine hit her hard as we were about to leave the doc's office. If I wasn't there to catch her, she would have hit the floor. They took her in the back for "observation" for about another hour before discharging her. Apparently migraines are a common side effect of the anesthesia.

One more round of injections in 2 weeks... and HOPEFULLY she'll be back pain-free.

Oh my. A lot of illness and pain around recently. Good luck all.

Then there's always death, and as April 15 approaches, taxes.

Not a big meat eater anyway, but curiosity really has me trying everything to find the magic bullet. Speaking of which, does anyone else have the Magic Bullet? Steam a bunch of cauliflower, carrots and broccoli, blend it up (minus carrots) in the Bullet with a little salt, pepper, olive oil and lowfat milk, add carrots after and you have soup in like ten minutes. The Magic Bullet rocks for pureeing stuff. Not so much with the chopping and grinding.

You can subsitute potatoes by steaming cauliflower - Mashed faux-tatoes.
1 med. head cauliflower (about 1 1/2 lbs.)

1/2 c. raw or organic butter

1/2 tsp. sea salt

5-8 grinds black pepper

minced chives (optional)

Steam cauliflower until tender.

In a processor, blend all ingredients until smooth.

BTW, I gave up red meat back in the '70's and I'm still alive.

Oh thanks for reminding me.

For all you UK tax payers, don't forget to file your self assessment tax return by Jan 31.

That was a public service announcement.

I hope her next round will be without a migraine or other side effects. Paws crossed she'll be free from her back pain forever.

Feel like you're getting the flu - I recommend "Oscillococcinum" by Boiron. Can be found in any health food market. For colds - "Cold Calm" by Boiron. Zinc lozenges for a sore throat.

i'm not a vegetarian. i could be, but i'm not interested in being that strict about it. i'm also married to a meatatarian who doesn't cook which makes it difficult. anyway, speaking of soup, i made a vegan leek, potato, and white carrot soup last night that turned out pretty well. i'm hoping it's even better today. i may try blending it smooth.

hope mrs raleigh feels better soon.

i opted not to go for shots and eventually my back settled. i haven't had an mri in a few years so i'm not sure what the discs look like (i have two bad discs and other stuff going on with my lower back), but instead of having constant pain everywhere, it has morphed into something that if i move the wrong way just makes my knees collapse. (doesn't happen very often) i mean, it still hurts all the time, but it's not like, curling up on the floor in the fetal position because i can't stand it kind of pain like it used to be.

i should probably have it looked at again. we're still paying off the ct-scans and hospital visits from mr. ts' crash this summer though. i should have gotten into radiology. i'd get paid a lot better but would still get to look at pictures all day.

+1. Back/neck pain is the worst.

Well, ok, bunghole region pain is the worst, but pelvic pain is considered low back by many doctors anyway.

Jake Johannsen's special "I Love You" is hilarious from front to back, but the part on taxes makes you spit up lunch from laughing.

I was eating all day. Very distracting working from home when you keep getting hungry. I think I'm still craving steak.
