If you know the movie "Lord of War", that was based loosely on this book. It's non-fiction based on the world's largest private arms dealer, detailing what is known of his transition from (likely) KGB to selling warehouses full of AK-47s to shipping heavy weapons and random cargo all over, in a fleet of Ilyushin jets flown by ex-Soviet pilots. And how he moved to Sharja, flew flower bulbs and other legitimate cargo into the UAE to keep his planes from flying empty and not making money. And how we hired him to fly our supplies into Baghdad because his pilots had had experience evading Stingers while landing from sending weapons into Africa.
That was sort of a random synopsis, but it was fascinating, and it's the book that got me into my Afghan history kick. |

The finishing sprint @ Bethel is this uphill 100-150 meter affair that probably has a max grade of 6-7%, but it's certainly not flat. I shudder to think what kind of watts gsteinb is cranking to beat that fast 45+ field. Gary is like the friggin M. Cavendish of the NY area 40+ race scene.
More than anything the masters win was largely due to a very good team of guys. After busting his frame and getting stitches NJ Chris showed up for work this morning and was controlling everything of consequence. |

Have you read the outpost? If not it is a must, the single most powerful war drama I have ever read. Heart goes out to these guys that served there.

Hey Ruokie- I need as good book to read. Just finished an outstanding tome called "The Outpost" by Jack Tapper, a remarkable story of a single outposts history from it's conception to it's demise in Afgan land. Novels or history.

Have you read Issac's Storm, and The Devil in White City ? both non fiction. the best novel I've read in years is 1Q84 which is a VERY Japanese novel, but I read it 6 months ago and still think about it.

First win in ten months today. Well done! |
People need to just treat people as they would like to be treated. Dating or otherwise. It's not that effing difficult.

Either way, I'm not going to go chasing after her like a puppy dog, but don't feel the need to string her along either. If she wants a game-player, there's no way I'll be happy with her anyway. |

I'm going to shower and go grocery shopping. Yes, that was critical to share with everyone. |

I left on my bike from the house for a ride at 7.30a this morning. 20 minutes or so after I left our dog went nuts barking at the front door. He does this, so my wife tried to ignore it at first. He kept going and then she heard a scraping noise coming from the back of the house. She went downstairs and confronted a guy trying to pry the window open with a plastic tent stake. He kept trying even after she was yelling at him and did not run until she came back to the window with a phone in her hand calling 911.
What kind of eff'd up idiot tries to break into a house in daylight, with a barking dog and someone home.... with a plastic tent stake? It's troubling and despite him not getting anything or doing any physical harm, I've lost some piece of mind. I reviewed operation of the kitten with my wife this afternoon. Jeebus. |

You think using the "e" word all the time give you an air of toughness?
I would ask the same of you. Does riding a V-Twin Penis Extension do it for you? |
