i've decided breaking your collarbone is far preferable to spraining your ankle.
on crutches, not only is your leg out of commission, but so are your hands for the most part. it also doesn't hurt nearly as much, especially when the injury happens. spraining my ankle is still the most painful injury i've ever had.

downside is that dressing yourself becomes more interesting. over the head shirts are a nightmare, pants that are a little snug are a challenge, and putting on and taking off a bra is just as frustrating as if i were a 15 year old boy.

Bra: hook in front and turn it around.

truckstop 03-11-13 05:23 PM

however, with either injury, i can't drive my car. :(
i'm never going to get it out of it's 300 mile break in. first snow, now this.

and it's snowing again, started right after i dropped mr. ts at the airport to go to MN for a week so i could have the truck to get around in.

actually yes. This is a community for fitness. I am constantly trying to encourage my under exercised patients to make lifestyle changes. One type of positive reinforcement can be found in online forums. The positive reinforcement I received both here and at SC helped me meet my goals.

If I were obese and trying to make a change and lurked here for advice, I would leave and never come back if that thread was on p1. The point of the thread was to make fun of fat people. Not "I'm too fat for this sport". Just "look at that funny looking fat guy/gal". So yeah, it offended me

Thanks, we fat people need all the support we can get, no really help me up!

LesterOfPuppets 03-11-13 05:26 PM

Bra: go without for a couple weeks.

Velo Vol 03-11-13 05:26 PM

I've never sprained an ankle bad enough to need crotches, either.

RollCNY 03-11-13 05:28 PM

For me, worst part of the broken collar bone was the ends rolling over each other. Happened twice in the first day after the break.

i did get that part figured out. actually, that's how my mom originally taught me to do it, but fell out of use over the years.

Reading backwards. Sometimes it works better than other times.

Do monkeys like cupcakes?

Apparently , yes. that is a Ray Barone-ism, I use it frequently myself.

You prescribe patients to read BikeForums?

Malpractice, IMO.

since i work at home that'll probably happen, but i don't want to subject the general public to that when i leave the house. i still believe in some level of decorum in public.

rjones28 03-11-13 05:36 PM

Decorum is overrated.

there's some internal, mild "popping" that happens every so often, but others who have done this a few times said that could be the muscles/tendons rolling over stuff, because things have probably moved around or are swelling.
