Honestly, your comments are fine and harmless, but when you say "dating sucks", it paints a picture much worse than it is. We assume true suckage, as we have all experienced it, and not mild tweaking that a date delay is. You post in extremes.

Now TampaRaleigh posted a catastrophic "marriage over" flag, and we all jumped in sympathy, because three previous marriages means he has mad skills a truly recognizing suckage.

And when you do grow a set, don't ask her if they should be shaved or not. :D

I don't think we've reached that point in our relationship yet. I haven't even met her Mom!

I'll let her use my laptop when I'm finished with it.

Hahahaha!

Yeah, it does the trick for now - stiff, doesn't feel like a block of wood. At this point, I don't think that I'd consider replacing it until I add a steel or Ti gravel/CX bike to the mix.

Of course, but there are legitimate reasons why that isn't possible on that day. Of course, you could have offered to go along with her to the vet, unless that doesn't fit into you idea of a date. If that's the case,it really wasn't all that important to see her in the first place. It was just more important to go on a date with someone.

LAJ 03-26-13 11:00 AM

I like it, WhyFi. Agree on the moving excuse stuff too. Only 6 months though?

RT 03-26-13 11:09 AM

There is no good reason not to ride at lunch today. My pants are too tight, I eat too much cheese, I have new tires on the work rig, there is no wind outside, and I have no one to impress at home.

For four years now.

Not even a date. Any moves I had are now outdated, any skills I acquire will be trial by fire, and I will die a spinster curmudgeon bachelor teetotaler retrogrouch before doing anything online with regard to meeting Ms. Right.

Yet I cannot get to the locker room to get this ride started.

Thanks. I've been using the excuse for 3 months, now, so another 6 will give me 9 total.

WhyFi 03-26-13 11:57 AM

My dad got my son an Easter basket the other day. My boy doesn't really do candy, so I've been helping by trying to not let the basket contents go to waste. I've gotta say, though - when the intended consumer is a kid, they sure as hell don't go out of their way to supply good chocolate.

If you do that, make sure you don't wear your skirt that day....in addition leave your man card in your purse ...:roflmao2:

I think I got more mockage than sympathy on my suckage recognition skills. And I honestly know I deserved a whole lot more. That's why I said something here... to get a good "slap upside my head". That's what real "friends" are for. To tell you you're an idiot when you're an idiot. And (according to the courthouse) I've been an idiot at least 3 times in my life.

What I've learned here (and in the real world) is that the guys who say something, whether it be mocking or sympathy, do so because they care. If they DIDN'T care about your story... you'd be ignored.

Offering to lend a hand, and hang out with someone while their dog is with the vet, is far from ladylike. Just an offer, nothing more than that.

that hot or not thread is great.

I'm not a big fan. What it seems to have evolved into is an arena for guys to take free shots at someone - to vent, so to speak, without the worry of disciplinary repercussions. Much like Trollheim, if you will, where guys can go and just be as abusive and obnoxious as they like.

If we had more mods and I had more time I would just sit in that hot/not thread and hand out infractions like M&Ms . . . that place reminds me way too much of my signature.

It seems like I have done nothing but run and try to take care of everyone as much as possible. I was looking at my ride spreadsheet last night and I found it hard to believe I have ridden as much as I have, which is much less than normal. I barely remember even being on the bike.

Life has got to slow down soon. It seems like Dad passed away last week, not six weeks ago.

Hang in there.
