Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bikes: 8 bikes - one for each day of the week!

I have to duck down, there's so much ***** flying here today. Does anyone know where to get a hard bike case for travel, and how much they are? Thanks. Now back to the regularly programmed ***** fight.

Bikes: Thylacines...only Thylacines.

Hey, I picked that purple on the TFM tops!

Well, the older purple and lime jerseys anyway. Dunno about these new ones.

The O'mara boys took about 5kms before they said hello, ( Nev woulda smacked 'em out ) even after stopping at traffic lights ( A weird sensation, cause I never do ). Eventually they lossened up a bit after they realised I wasn't a total hack. Some insanely fit lookin' little nuggety bloke was riding an Alex carbon thing with DA10 and Carbon AmClassic wheels ( or TaiClassic as I like to call 'em ). I thought carbon was supposed to be stiff!? This thing was flexing all over the joint.....in the saddle....

So is it a good bike or what?

I think the aluminium used on the frame is the same used on the entry level Giants, they call it 'LeMond 6066'. And is that 'Cane Creek C-1 Aheadset 26.7' headset a piece of shyt?

I think the 'Bontrager Race' wheels would have to go aswell.

Just ordered a whole bunch of stuff from probikekit.com. Conti tyres (front/rear), 3 Vittoria tubes, Prorace gloves, cyclist rucsac, winter gloves and a rechargeable Zenon light, all for a princely sum f $185 to my door. Man I love the internet!!

Don't know. Bought a Specialized Roubaix Comp instead.

Can't see why it wouldn't be a good bike though. Lot's of bikes seem to be made out of 6066 so I wouldn't hold that against it. Probably more to do with the way the tubes are formed and how they are put together. But what would I know? That's more Tigerboy's buisness.

You still looking about?

Oi wattsy,

'prorace' is their 'home' brand stuff....you should be ok with the gloves, but some of the other 'Prorace' stuff leaves a little to be desired in the 'quality' stakes. I got a bib & brace off them that was absolute crap.....it was cheap though!

Yes....it's called the TFM Sunday ride. Leaves at 8.15 from the shop, I think....

Actually, I have no idea. I know 7005 tubing doesn't need heat treating but can benefit from artificial aging. Usually, 6061 needs both solution heat treating as well as artificial aging, but I don't know about this 6066 stuff. I'll take a wild guess and say that maybe the tubing is already at T6, then welded, then artificially aged - avoiding having to solution heat treat the entire bike? I dunno. I've been ignoring Aluminium for a few years (can you tell? ) I'm not really the guy to ask about off-the-shelf bikes....I pretty much hate them all

Just do like everyone else and buy whatever is cheapest

Man!! I did the Fitzroy Cycles ride last night, and with that huge wind behind us, we
were sitting on about 55kmh for the whole 20km from Parkdale to Elwood. Hottest pace it's been for ages.

Best part was that more than half the bike shop boys (TFM and Richmond) were dropped by the time we got to Black Rock

It seems like more guys get dropped when there's a strong tail wind.

Grant Rice....Richmond Cyclery. My old boss from when I worked at Fitzroy.

Tall, dark, laid-back Tasmanian.....should've got bronze in the RR at the 94 Comm Games except Chris Lillywhite cheated

How do you 'nearly win' somethin? Is that a quaint euphamism for 'I suck badly and came last'?
