Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Fargin 'ell. Tell you're not a true Aussie male. That's in focus and artistic to boot. Great job.

What you think of the league then? Knights sucked this year. Much like the whole AFL, that sucks every year.

Go do a few laps, saccy. You might just make it up to Skyline on that POC you ride.

That's because I was a photographer in the states, among other occupations. I don't mind watching the games, but I have no team loyalty. I don't have much to say about that kangaroo guy - Joey Johns. For the amount of time he actually plays, he's nearly on NFL salary. Beats watching gridiron though. I think Rowan doesn't like the seppo intrusion.

That's not nice. It's made out of carbon you know. So take that back or I'll sick Hitchy on to ya.

That wasn't inspired by my dig at AFL was it? Can't be, because everyone knows Taswegians don't play any of the games we play up here. If it's not "Toss yer sister" you lots just not interested I hear.

Anyway, I can only just make it up there when I'm sober, let alone when I'm pissed and full of dinner.

They have to have breaks every few moments to throw in some commercials and pay those multi-million dollar salaries. I edited my last post - did you notice?

Hey talk about being up there when p!ssed.... I've seen some classic footage of guys destroying their cars, their sheilas, themselves. I think the police have learnt to leave it all alone. Jesus, Ford fans even burning Fords. And don't let's start talking about the bike blokes. Eeeeeek!

Only done it once, and with my thing being a double, I almost busted myself making it. I was gone before Cat corner.

At least I made it though. I'll time it next time just for ***** and giggles. If it's better than 30 minutes I'd be amazed.

Nah. You're OK. Liked the attitude with one certain mod... errr... med.... errr well, you know what I mean. You had balls (obviously) to bite back like that. And you got away with it.

On seconds thoughts.... yeah, you're a seppo... that's why you got away with it. *****.

That was about as politely as I could say "Fark em if they can't take a joke". People need to lighten up. I'm not here to offend anyone except those that need to be offended. They can take a laxative and get off their soapbox.

Man. Tell me about it. It's carnage up there. Not nearly as bad as when the bikes are on. Still, my mates a firey, and he says it don't matter what get's set on fire up there. They just leave them to it. Just let them clean all the charcoaled drunks up with the beer cans the day after the race is won.

Although there's a telecomunications tower up there, and they fuked with that this year. Supposedly there was feds crawling all over the place before you could finish your VB. It seems there's a few Ford or Holden lovers getting some love from Bubba instead this year.

Hey, now this sounds like a plan. The Aussie Thread Reunion at Bathurst before the W@ankers Race. Whaddya think. Get up there, race around the circuit, hold up a few of the touring car boys and have a beer afterwards (guest of honour of course being that proud and magnificent Tasmanian and touring car champion two years in a row, Marcos Ambrose from Launceston in Tasmania... best producer of the best car drivers in the country.. who needs AFL anyway)

Well that counts out Hitchy. Couldn't afford another scratch on the CF wonder... from an errant beer can no less.
Just imagine, he'd set up an echelon with him twiddling along on the inside, protected by saccy from the beer cans.

(I put those in just in case you thought I was joking).

Yeah, we'll see it on Cycling Central in two months' time with some fancy-arsed doco (note the terminology here guys -- doco, not doc... doco... I've worked in it) that some loser is trying to hawk about.

You're picking on the plastic bike. Harsh. You should admire the bravery of anyone willing to ride a bike that is just going to break in half one day. What's the expected life of a carbon fibre frame these days?

I think we deal in half-lives here. As in all scientific matters dealing with matter, thank you. In fact, quarter-lives because it has a scratch on the chainstay. And I bet he hasn't wrapped it in electrical tape to cover it up (or, if he was a REAL man, highlight it as a talking point, as when Tiger brought him down on a really social ride, but lost the plot).

I recall some comments about that incident, which involved a Japanese tourist as well? Imagine someone getting in the way of our tandem - it's the bike equivalent of a road train. I hear the missus calling, must go now.
