Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sniff. We don't have chicks here. Just roo's and the women that shoot them.

I'm actually taking bookings.....cheap...$50 a night...send cash only to Hitchy@bikeforums & indicate your preference.....it's extra for activites though....an extra $10 for a ride on wattsy's windtrainer in the garage, $5 for saccy to show you a crap road, crap bike shops & a kangaroo, Scoz can show you what cities looked like in 1954.....& an extra $5 & we'll actually work out where Gosford is!

Rofl. $5 for a look around Bathurst? I think you've got a fair markup on that package.

'Preference'??? Didn't know it was THAT type of gathering

Geez fellas, I don't check this thread for a few days and already I have to scroll through 4 pages of crap.

Anyway, here is a list of good Aussie beer for the Seppos ( not that they can get any of it, but anyway ) -

1) Anything Coopers
2) Anything Cascade
3) Little Creatures Pale Ale
4) Mountain Goat

That's about it. Oh, if you ever go to the Outback Steak House, have the AUTHENTIC Aussie spare ribs. Oh yeah, that's a classic Aussie dish, we have it all the time, right fellas?

Finally, a message for badsac......

BUY A FARKEN BIKE ALREADY!!!!

Yeah yeah. It'll happen. Honest.

What's Mountain Goat btw? Where do they make that? Melbourne Boutique or something? I've never seen it.

Yeah, local Melbin brew. No preservatives. Good stuff. Quite a few places ( Like the Corner Hotel, Richmond ) have it on tap now.

Oh hey, just thinking out loud for a second, would anyone be interested in some Zero Gravity brakes? I've just applied for an OEM/Small Order account. They've just released a version with Stainless hardware rather than Ti, so the price has come down by a third. I want a set. 150g lighter than anything. Yummayyyyyyyy.

Mountain Goat is a top drop...about $60 a slab. We actually race for mountain goat beer as the prizes (only in australia!)...Its called the 'mountain goat classic' & as the name suggests, it's hilly. The good part is that its a handicap, so they have prizes like 1/2 doz stubbies for the first in each bunch up certain hills, "the bloke who looks like he's gunna die at the top of the hill", got 1/2 doz...etc etc...I think the winner got 2 slabs this year.....its a good race to 'marshall' as well...the sponsor provides the 'sustanence'!

Arggggggggggg. The damn Bathurst shop has up to this point been totally disinterested in selling me a bike. Just as I was probably a day out from ordering that Orbea from Orange the head dude from Bathurst just calls me claiming he'll do an 04 Specialized Roubiax Comp in my size, with specialized shoes and look pedals for between $4000 and $4200 (final figure tommorrow). Arggg. I'd settled on the Orbea. But the specialized is a sweet bike. Oh the dillema!!!

Fuk it, get the carbon -- I would.

Have they got one there? Is it a 54cm, or the same one?

Yeah, I'm getting down to going by the shops now though. Bathurst have been pricks to me up to this point, while Orange have been really good to me. I don't really want to reward Bathurst for their crap but like you say, I'd probably prefer the bike, and it is my local shop. How much does giving ones money to who you think deserves it come in to it? Is that stupid?

Nah, fuk that, just get the one you want

I'd definitely get one of those. Black one, right? With white stickers?

I probably said this ages ago, but a day after ordering my steel Cervelo, and months after
i decided I couldn't afford carbon, this guy tells me I could get a Roubaix frame for $2000!!

I was like: "fuk, I would've considered it, but I've pretty much agreed to buy the Cervelo"

Anyway, don't bother answering my crap, just go buy it.

Yeah Carbon and black with Silver stickers. Looks dull in the pics, but pretty flash in real life. ****** R540 wheels though.

Oooo you're a mercenary one 531. No rewards for good behaviour from you! Number 1 comes first right?

Well, I do feel a bit guilty. What was your original price limit? $1200?

lol. Not quite. $2000. So I've more than doubled it. Oh well. Word from the not so wise though. Don't go shopping for bikes when you've got to much money in the bank. Makes budgets a very hard thing to keep. I'm saving for a house, but put back the purchase to the middle of next year for external reasons. So I've got a bit of dough just kicking about, and more than enough time to replace what I spend. I'm a silly bastid.
