Playtime, boys. EDIT: Maelstrom on the log-in list, but I think he's pretty harmless. * Getting in the obligatory bike content. |
Good use of bike talk. I noticed you posted 4 times in a row. Are you pissed and talking to yourself?

Actually, that avatar of hers looks like Condoleeza Rice just ate some roopoo.
Okay, last post before Xmas. I've been scarcer than Hitchy, which is very sad indictment for your God, the originator of this fine thread and purveyor of all things fine in cycling. My official excuse is that I just don't have the ability to talk as much dribble as you guys. I bow to your superior abilities in verbal diahorrea! :p Top work fellas. So, yes. Went for a ride yesterday, stupidly. Weather was beautiful at 8am, but the last hour was hell on wheels. Musta been mid 30's by 11am - it was farken hot. Yes, I am an idiot. Yes, I got burnt like only a whiteboy can. Within stupidity comes revalations though. On the way back just before Mordy, I noticed something felt funny, and saw that my seatpost has somehow slipped down in the frame. I had not idea by how much, and didn't bring my allen keys with me, so I swung into Nepean Cycles and borrowed one. Well, I musta put my seat up a little higher than it was, but I noticed three things almost immediately - 1) I felt more like I was pedalling in full circles, avergae speed went up measurably. 2) lactate burn came on a lot later when powering or going up inclines. 3) My bum doesn't even feel like it was just subjected to 105kms in the saddle. As the bruddahs would say......"Wassup wit dat!!?!?!" ( Apologies in advance for the cycling related post ) |
I won 79 items on ebay this month. I think I need a break.

I only read four pages back everytime I revisit this thread. Otherwise I'd go insane.

You're right, it'd be much less wankier if his avatar was a pic of Tom Cruise.

Good one! I just ordered some SRAM 9 speed gear for my tandem, and I'm sitting here trying to decide which cassette to order. $24 bucks for 330g, or go with the one with a composite spider (290g) for $36.50. I've been in the road bike forums too long if I'm frettin' over 40g. By the way Thylo, have you seen the S&S coupled Ti frames that fit in a backpack? How sweet is that for travelling? Pack your bag in a 27x27xsomething backpack, and just go. If I wasn't married, I'd be travelling again. |

This is so sad. He likes the abuse. It's probably all the attention he gets. Just gave my courier his Tooheys gift pack, thereby assuring prompt delivery for the new year.

Too many painkillers, and constipation with roopoo. Heaven forbid! |
So that SRAM X-9 shifter derailleur combo I just bought is like gold? Glad I ordered two. What do you need, while I've got the catalog open.
|
Haven't got the catalogue number here. Bascially 9sp, with the alloy cogs. Probably the 34-buck one you were talking about. PC49 chain, however. I'll look it out when I get home.
|
You want light or lighter? 11-32 or 11-34? Right between the 2, pricewise is the 220g ones with the compact cogset: 11-23 or 12-26. These prices are US$, and don't include shipping, but I'm sure it's better than your LBS, if they could get the stuff. Can't find a PC49, but the PC59 w/Powerlink II runs about $20 plus shipping.
[edit] the light ones are 200g, not 220 |
It's the 32-11 animal. $119 at the LBS last time I bought (same price as the heavier Shimano variety). PC49 was something like $39 at the LBS. So yeah, things look goodish. I'll confirm the cassette model when I get home.
|
Right-o. Email me when you know exactly what you need, and I'll get you taken care of.
|
Yeah, I'll be doing an S&S frame for myself for this Oxfam Challenge ride I'm doing in Sri Lanka next April. Whole bike packs into a 26"x26"x10" box. Sweeeeeeet as.
Trying to decide whether I'll make my own box outta Corflute or actually be stupid and buy one. Probably Corflute :D |
We have the S&S couplers on our tandem. That added a considerable amount to the final frame price. Then I screwed up and spec'd a custom DH fork. Now it's too big to pack, and the only option is to swap the fork for a Marzocchi DJ single crown. We'll hit $12k by the time I get it all sorted out.

Now, I got home, and I've looked in the rubbish heap in a wardrobe where I dump *every" bike part package and "enclosed instruction" and I can't find the SRAM cassette box. There's one (or four) around somewhere, but I can't be bothered sorting through the stuff in the bike garage tonight. Or tomorrow. So I will let you know on.... Boxing Day? |
