Yep, too tight. Know from experience. Started growing a third one as a result. The tight knicks tend to force the testicle down and against the upper part of your thigh. It aggravates the vas if you persist.

Three solutions -- lose weight, get new knicks that are slightly larger, or have a castration. You'll have to decide on the priorities.

Funny you should mention that. Being over weight stuffs up everything

About 3 years ago I stacked on about 10kg, and I've struggled to get comfortable in knicks ever since.
I didn't get saddle sores for 10 years until I put the weight on.

Well, not sure if it's 100% the same thing, as it's only me scrote that's getting squished. Me nuts are fine. It's the first time I've worn those pants so I'd expect them to loosen up some. Also plan to lose another 8kg or so as well, so if that's the problem, I should be able to keep my nuts no worries. :D

[edit] Oh btw? Which solution you take?

Rowan 12-26-04 05:59 PM

Lost the weight. Couldn't afford another three pairs of shorts at 100 bucks each (three-short minimum for randonnees of 600km and over). I needed to get it off anyway to improve fitness and hillclimbing. Still got the "third man" so to speak, though.

By the way, I don't think the shorts will loosen up much... at least until they've been worn and washed 100 times or so.

badsac 12-27-04 01:40 AM

Bugger. Oh well. Maybe some fooking about with my seat will sort things out.

Now, I got another problem. My rear tire has a bulge in it, throwing one part up and to the left. Are there any potential problems riding with this? Prehaps less grip, more chance of a blowout, potential warped rim??? Any chance they'd replace the tire. It's only just got the moulding nubs worn off it, let alone be worn out.

[Edit] Oh, I should say that there is no cuts or visible damage to the tire, and I've never had a puncture or anything.

Rowan 12-27-04 02:07 AM

The rear tire is not bulging at the valve, perchance?

Brian 12-27-04 02:30 AM

This is all so very simple. Badsac's bulge is obviously in the wrong place. I have nothing more to add on the subject.

Nup. About 30cm around from it.

As an aside, my mates new bike suffered the same problem with it's rear tire (different brand of tire though) not a week ago. Is this a common complaint for these 80 fookin dollar pieces of sh1te?

You should do standup Expat. :crash:

Brian 12-27-04 02:45 AM

Hey, I'm just here for comic relief. You guys disappointed me. Here's a thread with the start of a perfectly good flame war, Tools and tools and no one jumped in to take sides and stir it up. Has the xmas season gotten into The Aussie Thread?

I'd take it back and see what the LBS can do. If it is a recurrent problem (ie, the LBSs get returns back all the time), the manufacturer might do something about it.

Nah, had more fun telling the seppos and especially the NYers that they are so easy to pick on because they take themselves so seriously. Plus, I've put in place step one of the meltdown process. Stayed tuned folks.

Now, even though I was born in NY, I don't mind you giving them heaps. They lock their bikes up with chains that weigh more than your average road bike. If you ride in NYC, you're either a bike courier, a pizza delivery (or Italian sandwiches) guy, or both. Sheer madness.

Doubt they would sell any of these things as they're a Specialized homebrand special. BUt back to the LBS it will go for sure. MIght have to make some enemies to get the tight bastards to spring to make my bike roadworthy. Selling me a substandard product. The hide of them.

Hmmm. I think I was asking why no one else was trying to incite the natives. Two snaps? Is that like a spanking?

Only if you're lucky.

Rowan 12-27-04 05:07 PM

Or unlucky.

Rowan 12-27-04 05:10 PM

I'm not the humanitarian kind (just read my posts), but I must say you've got to give a thought to... what is it... 12,000 people wiped out by the tsunami resulting from that plate shift in the Indian Ocean. A few Aussies have disappeared as well. Tragic stuff. One wonders whether ****et and places like that in Indonesia are actually worth considering as holiday destinations anymore.

Also just waiting to hear which side of the religious divide pipes up and blames the other for the retribution...

Oh yeah, bike content... I'll contemplate all this as I look outside at the weird cold weather and strong winds and decide that bike riding might not be on the agenda today.

PaulBravey 12-27-04 05:14 PM

Most of the governments are just guestimating because entire villages have just disappeared - there's still thousands missing.

Rowan 12-27-04 05:58 PM

24,000 is the new forecast death toll. 12,000 alone in Sri Lanka.

Puts events in other parts of the world in perspective.

vrkelley 12-27-04 06:05 PM

Judging by the tassie quakes and now this...I'm not convinced that it's over.

Rowan 12-27-04 06:11 PM

People seem to think we are fairly remote from similar events, but who knows. The quake that caused the tsunami apparently was bigger than ALL the quakes in the world in the past five years. 750 times bigger than the one in Iran (?). From what I gather, it was shifting of two ajdacnt plates in the earth's crust in the Indian Ocea. Maybe the one we had the other day in Tasmania was a precursor to the big one. Who knows.

I wonder what it would be like to ride a bike and have an earthquake occur underneath. Ours always seem to happen while we're asleep.

PaulBravey 12-27-04 06:22 PM

It was the 5th biggest quake since they started recording them in 1900. The effects of this one were made worse by the proximity of the quake to the sea bed floor and that, unlike the pacific, there's no seismic sensor network to warn people that there's a wall of water heading their way at 500mph! There was extensive flooding on the west coast of africa and madagascar and that's a loooong way away.

Guest 12-27-04 06:46 PM

I feel so bad for those people. Every time I watch BBC, it really shocks me how much destruction a tsunami can do.

I have friends in Jakarta and Singapore. It makes me sick to think there's something wrong with them. I'm sending out emails to confirm they're ok.

They said on BBC that the seismic activity between the plates in the ocean floor was so great that one of the plates sunk 10 meters. Damn, that's bound to cause lots of problems in the future. I can't see how the region will ever be the same again. I'm just wondering if anyone's done a study on what the impact of such a shift does on the seismic activity of the area?

It's really sad. Really.
