Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bicycle Tasmania is getting its act together with insurance, and will be offering, I understand, rides from the beginning of next year. Go to their website, www.biketas.org.au for details.

Bike Week in March next year will have a metric century ride and probably some other social stuff. Keep an eye out for promotion.

Not any more. Rexie's snatched it from Seven and the fishing show (and snout kissing) is no more.

Busted!! I've worked for both Bill and The Captain.

tell us more about the scapin?
I sell it one of you guys for $600!!! (cost me $980) but it came without a fork. I rode it for 3 weeks.
Leon at Pro Motion thinks I'm a d1ckhead 'coz i don't love it.

It's 58x57, silver, Italian BB, curved seat stays, vertical drop-outs, Columbus Genius,
162mm 1" headtube, "old style" thin tubing. weighs 1670g without bolts and bits.

But like I said, I reckon the steering was way too twitchy, and I was getting speed wobbles (could be too heavy: 87kg). Leon said I had the wrong fork, but I don't really think 2.5mm of extra rake would make a huge difference.

I emailed Scapin, and they seemed to think is was very old stock....dunno.

Fish oil in the frame during the summer months , some one will be able to smell where your riding track is,If it stops the rust though way to go

Toe Clips!!!!!......No wonder the Scapin has speed wobbles!...it's embarrassed to be seen wif ya & is tryin' to buck you off!.....the last bloke i saw with toe clips was Fausto Coppi in my 100 years of the TDF book. do you fall off a lot at traffic lights?......

Racing there is only since I gave it up....but I did race the Metro champs there in the 90s around the full circuit. Pretty good, but exposed and windy on the straights.

Never met the guy Hitchy, but see him on the news every now and then. As for his shop, it has the biggest range in Hobart, but his staff aren't helpfull at all. I go up the road to Ken Self Cycles. It's only a small shop, but they've been super helpful, and friendly.
