Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

stop for a Coke at the charming St Andrews general store?

If you come back home via the Greensborough bypass, that climb up from the roundabout after Diamond Ck I used to slam in the big ring. Nowadays I reckon I'd climb off and walk it.

Yeah, they can get pretty sensitive. I've started building a list of no-go subjects. Looks like Oprah's one of them

Sniff... sniff... I smell bushfire smoke in the air...

Well what's wrong with that? Pipes and tanks are very upstanding members of the community. It's the shi!t running through them that you've got to worry about.

Spelling, grammar and semantics... there's a thread about that somewhere, isn't there?

You never put those bar stoppers back in -- they just restrict the flow while you're swilling from the bottle.

Looks like the Thylacine is back...Has the body/butt stopped aching yet.

BTW Hitchy, I've been psyching myself up for the sprint to Frankston tomorrow. Wattsy gritts his teeth, closes his eyes and visualises the ride..."My thighs are made of steal, I will not give way at red lights, I will not let any schmuck into my spot...damn it where'd the pack go...wattsy visualises the lonely ride from Patto river to Frankston...

Isn't the "finish line" near Kennedy's shop? So how do they avoid smashing through the roundabout?

It's weird, I feel like a train wreck last night, and today - apart from some localised soreness when I got out of bed, which is now gone - I feel great.

Musta been the Satay noodles with tofu I had last night.

Hey, what do you guys drink during a ride? Do you have any after ride eating/drinking regimen? ( No, I don't mean beer )
