Oh yeah, it was meant to have Ksyriums, wasn't it? But they changed them, or something.
I wouldn't worry too much about the crap roads; different tyres can make a big difference.

Okey dokey.
Regarding the food/drink issue, we have a resident nutritionalist! Cool! I usually drink watered down Gatorade no matter how far the ride is. Frankly there's so much conflicting ideas about fluids and nutrition, I just figure a little bit of sodium and whatnot from an electrolyte drink aint gunna kill me. Pretty scientific huh. I also tend to eat something every 20kms or so. I've found these 'health' bars that are only $1.60 and seem to have a good carbs/fats/protein spread. I haven't managed to get any tummy aches or puke one up yet even on my 130km jaunt to Gisborne, so I figure they're okay. Plus, 3 bucks + for a 'Powerbar' is a ripoff so I'm trying to avoid them.
Am I kinda on the right track here? I also try an eat within an hour of getting home from a big ride, as advised by some boffin in the nutrition section of this site.
badsac, if you don't think you're ready for a Thylacine, no problems mate. I just thought if you're looking at spending $4500 bucks on a bike, why get something mainstream, ya know? I was just happy to swing ya a super deal if you were up for it, so no biggie. As for the distance, well, I can ship a whole bike anywhere in Oz for 25 bucks. It's, a small world, affffff-terall....it's a small world aaaaa.....
Anyway, you get the picture.

But nah, thanks for being understanding.

don't get me started on that sh*tful excuse "Eurosportnews"...I farken cracked 'em when I found out that was the crap they were serving up on Fox digital. They do a Vuelta update at 1500, CET, which is 2300 here. So much for live coverage of the Classics, worlds, tours.....
Dog on road, chases riders suffering on a climb. Very funny.

from cyclingnews.com live coverage....
16:26 CEST 138km/29km to go
A dog is on the parcours, travelling very quickly as Cedric Vasseur attacks. The dog goes in between Zaballa and Gutierrez, who are caught by the bunch. This dog can climb!
16:28 CEST 139km/28km to go
Beloki is dropped by the peloton, which is now fairly small - perhaps 50 riders.
Does the dog belong to VDB? Vasseur has dropped it on the climb though.
In front, Vino hits a 10 percent section as the break gradually implodes behind him. Colom is caught.

Hey Hitchy, I failed you again. I got around the Mordy Roundabout with the pack and was about 20 bikes back from you at the time.
About 5 k's further on I just did not have the strength in my legs to stay with the pack and by Patto River was starting the lonely ride by myself. As it turned out, there we lot's of other people doing the same lonely ride and we eventually hooked up together and rode to Frankston together at a leisurely 35kph. Wattsy has decided that the Hell Ride boys are to fast for him and will be relegated to the magoo's from now on!!
Got to Sorrento ok on Saturday, although was not happen about fighting a head wind all the way there. As penance for woosing on the Hell Ride, I rode back to Sandy yesterday so did a lazy 160k's for the weekend. We are a bit sore today...

damn.....We caught a 'red' at frankston, i looked around for you then & couldn't see you. Still if nothing else, your 'strength & endurance' should be inproving with all this chasing....You 'redlining' when you go off the back? or pulling the pin earlier?. I woulda thought you should be able to make Oliver's....we'll have to work on that some more. I think i'm doing it again this week...nada mates, as training & fotty GF piss ups clash!....I'll know later in the week. the best part is having 100km (65 hard), under your belt by 9.30am
cheers,
hitchy

Exactly the same at my place mate.....I was doing cartwheels.....Flanders, Roubiax, Worlds. Until a mate in the office who got connected the week before me told me what we were really getting.
Dont' look on the Eurosport website either....that'll just make you more depressed.

All that stuff is a rip-off -- even buying the Gatorade powder means you only save about a third of the cost of the prepared drink, if you mix it at the same strength.
If I get sick of wiping potato chip grease off my STIs, I sometimes take a sandwhich with me with just a bit of vegimite and some sprinkled salt.
The last I heard, you're supposed to start replenishing the carbohydrates as soon as you get off the bike.
We did an interesting experiment at uni last year on "glucose uptake", and stooopid me road all the way there, from East Bentleigh to Bundoora (we weren't supposed to exercise before the experiment), and my uptake was about 30% quicker than all the other "kids" in the class. So, uptake is heaps quicker staight after exercise.....but you knew that

G'day,
doesn't matter who's playing in the GF or what the weathers like...its been a sell out every year since the mid 70's anyway.......Most, whose team isn't playing, will have some sort of BBQ, pissup etc.....I'm putting the KM's in early so that I can have a few 'frothies' in the arvo in front of the telly with a few mates. (provided the coaching nazi doesn't find out!)
