Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ahem! I'd stuff that smiley up your a$$, but I figure you're referring to their skinny tire models...

And no, I haven't a clue who you am yet! I've seen you from about 30m in fading light at the track, and with your falcon on the train this morning. I would've sed gday but
- I couldn't remember what bikes you rode
- you got on at Woy Woy instead of Gossy
- you weren't wearing your NZ gear

I try to avoid embarressing myself if i can help it.
bloody hell, I need a better disguise obviously. The black gear doesn't conceal my identity at all, I'll have to mix it up a bit and go with the varying colours soon. Maybe keep the helmet and dark shades on too.

Nice day so I rode to Woy Woy instead.

I'm sure you could be in your very own special category.

If it doesn't work out with your wife, I'd be glad to sit on the back of the tandem and watch you pedal me around for 50 or 100 kms

That helmet hangin off the bike was the beez kneez. Kinda retro lookin. In fact the whole bike was way too cool. retro singlespeed juxtaposed against 21st centry stem, seat, computer and quick-release. WTF? That's not right is it? I thought singlespeed/fixie HAD to have hex nuts.

Bludy. If I can maintain over 40 for long periods of time I'm happy with myself. 50? Either you should be in the TdF, or I've got nothing.

Bring shoes with cleats. I wring every inch of travel out of our 5" DH fork when we go off road. The 203mm rotors get a good workout too.

Speak for yourself, Ed. I thought he was referring to the kid that works the drive through at Maccas. You have to remember, 53-11 is a pretty simple guy. I hope you typed your response slowly, as he reads slow.

Remember the Cannondale 3.0? Three inch tubing! Might as well run solid tires while you're at it. They also seem to have a longer top tube than I prefer. Their mountain bikes are pretty plush though.

That's why I have so many many typos.....can't spell. But I don't need any fancy "edumacation" to ride a bike.

P.S. You're dreaming if you think you'll make it to 5,000.

The bastid! He just wants to share the glory when we reach 5000. Otherwise he'd be outside bench pressing his Ford Explorer before sprinting at 180RPM to the gym.

I have a wheel for that but can't be bothered with it if I get a flat on the road. Rear I have to have nuts but if I flat the front it's just easier to take it out with the QR.

4kms at 6%, that's not my ideal SS climb, I'll bring the gears before I tackle it with the SS.

cycle2max ? what is that, a website or a program ?

Page 200 - woo hoo !!
