Hitchy 09-14-04 10:37 PM

g'day,

if memory serves me correctly, (& it frequently doesn't!), wasn't it the 2000 olympics that Anna wilson, (i think) was 'away' in the lead bunch of 2 or 3. Ms. Watt led the charge of the peleton that brought them back cos 'she' wanted to win...end result....no medal for OZ!...you'd want her in the trenches with you, wouldn't you ?

cheers,

Hitchy

she reminds me of those ugly little 'troll dolls'!......wouldn't give her the time o' day personally.....

Nup. Me neither. Never got on with her....weird personality.

smart, too
Funny, she ALWAYS Speaks so highly of you guys!! :D

BTW, I'm thinking that a little later in the year, I SHOULD arrange a training ride to Sorrento. I'll have to find a weekend where the folks aren't using it, but anythings's doable. Only one caveat...I get to sit on the back of the pack and get dragged along all the way to Sorrento.

cool "the aussie tread @ bike forums weekend away"...do we get t-shirst printed or what?......hope you can ride no hands all the way to sorrento, wattsy....he who sits on the back also has to carry the beer...a slab on each shoulder should be enough 'travellers' anyway!,

cheers,

hitchy

Just took me Kervello out for the first time, and it's fkn GROWSE.

Although I must say it's the first time I've had a full-carbon fork (Muscle) with an A-head set up, and it's the first time in about five years that I've had new wheels, so I'm sure this had a lot to do with it.

g'day,

full carbon forks??......now imagine how good it would be if the 'whole' bike was carbon!!!.....mmmmmmm carbon....what wheels did you get?

cheers,

hitchy

LOL, funny thing is that most of the people who talk about carbon bikes having a 'dead feeling' have either never ridden one or only rode for a short time...I concur Hitchy...mmmmmmm carbon..

BTW, I was the Maryborough (vic) no hands champion 3 years running as a kid, so carrying a few slabs to Sorrento is no problemmo...wait, maybe I might need a hand (or push) up Olivers Hill, but apart from that, easy! :D

And the sprint for the servo in Safety Beach?

Thylacine 09-15-04 06:45 PM

Damn, I've created a monster.

Welcome to the 21st century, Nev. You know, the only difference between your old set up and the new one is probably a bit of stiffness. Wheels make a massive difference. MASSIVE. Not that I know anything compared to you old farts, but I must concur on the Watt factor. Friendly as a Funeral that one. Oh boy.

Anyway, I'm off to St Andrews for a little epic in the hills. I'll leave the coast in the capable hands of you guys. Fark I hope it doesn't rain or I'm stuffed.

Think of us on Wild Dog Hill, mate. :)

So I just have to ask...

Was that Hitchy who visited the Lion exhibit at the Melbourne Zoo yesterday? ;-)

lol....he was about to unfurl his "The Aussie Thread" banner to prove it was him.

I figure that everyone will wait for me given i'm carrying the beers... ;)

BTW, you could tell it wasn't Hitchy, he would have let them shoot the lions before he got out...

I went cheap on the wheels. I got 32 hole CXP33s with Ultegra hubs.

mmmmmmmm....new hubs...now I want new wheels on all my bikes. :)

I think you're right -- in fact I'm gunna charge out and get some new wheels for the 531.

Any suggestions on the cheapest way to throw reasonable wheels together?

I'm thinking Ultegra hubs for just under $200, and a pair of CXP33s for about $220, then suck up to someone for cheap spokes. :)

My "buddy" at Bicycle Recycle (Darren) sold me my Ultegra cassette for just over cost -- the guys at Fitzroy Cycles in Carnegie quoted me $145 for a 11/21 nine speed Ultegra!!

Yeah, I thought he might've been confused with an old Vitus aluminium.

He bought one of those Cippo aluminium Specialized things in the World Champion colours.

Jeez, Ed, you're copping a bit on http://www.cyclingforums.com/t176943.html regarding your "singles" statements :D

We should gang up on them :)

And what about that guy who can't decide between the carbon TREK and the carbon Cervelo; are those bikes as similar as he seems to think they are?

some dingbat was on not long ago tossing up (and off, no doubt...) between a Pinarello Dogma and a Colnago C-50. Some of the responses were pretty funny.
