Ah thanks fellas. As you might have noticed by all the *****ing and crying like a little girl that I've been doing, I don't like things that are a pain in the arse. That looks scarier than a sook like me could take so I might have to keep it within the country. ;)

I reckon he lapped me 3 times over the 8km circuit!. i consoled myself that i was in the small ring & just spinning.....& he was on a pink bike!....had CBD cycles sponsorship on it......so what model is pink?

I'm pretty sure it's one of the older P2s or P3s -- in other words, one of them "time trial only" bikes

not an '04 model

BINGO. It's an old P3
http://www.s-b-r.com/gallery%20photo...o-p3-pink.html

Typical SBR.

older Cervelos
http://www.s-b-r.com/gallery%20photo...m-cervelo.html

Are we supposed to know who John King is?

SBR don't sell Cervelos anymore, so I looked like a right d1ckhead last year when I
went in and asked for a "Kervello", and the cool dude in Gucci thongs said: "oh, you mean "Servelo"?
"Yeah, whatever (w@nker) -- got any?" I said.

Imagine the discount.

I've bought crap coloured frames at dirt cheap prices. A while ago, Kennedy sold me a shop soiled
Dedacciai 7003 frame so cheap that I had to promise never to tell anyone.
It's that crappy "blaze blue" colour, sort
of a dark light blue...BLAAAAAA

OK, now I'm on a mission to become less wimpy. I'm gonna be a man, not a mouse.

So I need a new helmet. My Stackhat looks kind of lame in a bunch ride: I need a shiny new shell. One with real street cred. What is hot on the streets of Oz these days?

badsac 11-03-04 09:41 PM

Wow, that bike of Mikey's in the Carbon thread looks sweet. Typically another Melbournite. You kids down there get all the good bikes. :(

Should pay one of you bastids commission to get me something decent. :(

Met stradivarious (or however its spelt), Limar, Giro (if you've got a trek)......of course real cool is empty icecream tubs & string!!! (can you believe I saw a bloke in full lycra the other day on a 5900 with this for a helmet?....i want some of whatever he's been smoking!)

Haven't looked into Helmets for a while, but I think it's like Hitchy said; Giro, Met or Limar.

Gunna cost you, though http://www.freedommachine.com.au/frame_welcome.htm

I have an oldish Giro Ventoux

Man. I swear. Don't tempt me. I think the worst thing about coming to this forum and reading about all you guys stuff is that I would have been happy to be ripped off for a crap Giant previously. When I first came here, I thought a Felt F60 would be the bee's knees. You guys are a terror for ones wallet and decision making ability. ;)

rockmuncher 11-03-04 09:57 PM

Hmmmm... it seems a safe but stylish bonce is an expensive thing. I might have to keep the old Stackhat until next payday :(

I've got a 'Dorothy the Dinosaur' lid at home that my daughter has grown out of (emotionally not physically!), that I could send you. Don't know that it will do much for your street cred though! ...still better than a pink cervello! :D

Maybe if I soaked my 3 year old's cannonball helmet in water I could strech it far enough to fit over my fat head!

wattsy_rules 11-03-04 11:48 PM

the 05 range has just landed. I haven't seen any on the road yet though. The only 04's i ever seen 'live' are the black & white & the credit agricole team in red that those pro's had at the sun tour this year.
The more 486's I see, the more I like them. Pity I haven't got a cash flow to start saving with.

Job wise.....you having a mid life crisis wattsy?.....me too.....I'm over working for a living, (well being a finance puke, anyway), unfortunately the mortgage beast needs to be fed....& having done this for so long, there probably not much else I could do & earn the same $$$.......would love something in the bike industry....BV had a job last week going for a Commercial manager......I'm actually looking at the books of a bike shop at the moment (you'd be staggered who is looking for a cash injection) with a view to buying in. My accountant reckons I'm crazy, theres no money in them.....but I'm looking for something to 'DO' as well as an investment...maybe, we'll see. So what do you wanna do?
I'm seriously contemplating owning a bike shop. I just hate the coporate word. You're right when you say the cash flow is not so great, so I'm looking at a few angles around customers, branding, value added services etc (I love being able to use all my old consulting terms...w*nk, w*nk, w*nk...) so that I can increase the patronage. I have a location in mind where there's not a bike shop within 20k. I just need to do some more home work.

In the mean time, I've been approached by a small training company that does executive training around Leadership, Business Development, Negotiation Skills etc etc. I have no training background, but have done bucket loads in the domain areas and have lots of contacts in the Fortune 500's. The role would be initially around business development, with the view to becoming a trainer down the track. Not sure about this one.

On top of everything else, I'd like to start an eBay store with 'stuff'. Don't know what that stuff would be, but am starting to look.

"What do I wanna do?" Have not got a Bl**dy clue!

.......cos i'm a good bloke, i might even let you have a ride next time we meet up. You'll need cleets for 'keo's' (mine finally arrived), or the same size foot as moi (& you can stomach putting your foot in my smelly Sidi's)...:D

Your'e a gentleman...but could you stomach your Sidi's after I've had my smelly feet in them?

Hey, I've got a good friend in the US who I've been yarning to about my bike buying woes. Exchange rate is good at the minute. What's the downside of buying OS? Just no warranty, and the bike getting damaged/missing in transit? Are there big customs issues or anything? Anybody know?
USPS does NOT ship bikes internationally as they are too large, so you're low cost option is gone.

Get onto www.coloradocyclist.com for the domensions of a bike container that will keep your shipping costs to USD$250(approx AUD$350) with UPS. Slightly larger than these dimensions will cost you up to USD$390 (approx AUD$550).

Customer charges 5% of purchase cost over $500, 10% of total cost (including shipping)for GST AND then around $60 handling fee.

My Trek 5200 cost me AUD$3,200 landed and was 6 months old when I got it. I saved around $2K, but am not so sure I would go through the heart ache again, unless I was travelling to the US and bringing it back myself.

Sorry to be serious, but ain't it easier to swap the pedals over?

Just tried a ride...too crap....only done 12 km. The only thing that bugs me about
riding in the rain is that me shoes will still be wet tomorrow

I rode to Frankston and back this morning (60K). Wheather was perfect, although chilly enough to have the arm warmers.

Do you have any details on how to contact them? I'd give you a good deal off a bike if I went this way, say...2.5% discount. :D
