Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Me too.. perhaps for different reasons than yours. They put the 45+ with the 35+ guys today. The heavy hitters in the 35+ are a significant subset of the 123 field around here. It was fast... same speed as the 123 that followed, albeit shorter. I was reminded of this...

Nice Herbie.

I like those older guy races, though the 35+ would likely be brutal. I'm quite happy rolling the 55+, but today, it was the 35+4. Scary, scary, scary. I forgot to turn on my Garmin, but not the camera, and reliving it was even worse.

There was a 35 3/4 race in the morning I should have probably done, but I wanted to save my matches to have any chance of helping a team mate who is contesting the local points thing for 45+. As it was, I was pretty much useless... pulling out into the breeze to do anything felt like being hit by a train... single file 45 minute express train.

Understand that. Still, it's so much smoother. Sprinting out of almost every corner is starting to make me pretty strong, anyway. 55+ State Race is next Sunday. I'm much more excited about that than the two I'm doing tomorrow.

Bicycle racing is for idiots. I know, I did it on and off for 20 years.

Eff Bike Schwag. Now I need a new mixer for playing out. Considering one of these:

The next Addiction will feature a titillating thread title. (Say that 5 times fast.)

Expect an unusual number of people coming by asking "What's this thread about"?

Or pervs, we'll probably attract more pervs . . . . I mean more than the ones we got already.

The end is very near.

Pack your gear, prepare to move out.

Leave your carbon bikes behind, they're too explosive.
