105 or ultegra? please help!!!!
I'm still new to all this and I'm trying to decide what bike to buy. I don't race, but I do like to group ride. I'm trying to figure out if I should get 105 or ultegra components. I'm looking at a 2013 bianchi IMPULSO ultegra and the 2013 Scott speedster 20 with 105s the bianchi is $400 more then the Scott. Is it worth the $400 extra for the riding I do?

I personally went with 105 over Ultegra since I didn't feel the price difference was worth it.

What are the other differences (like wheels) - and which bike feels/fits better? If 6800, the Bianchi would easily be worth $400 more (IMO). But I'm assuming this is a 5700 vs. 6700 comparison?

Probably not in a first bike. The prevailing wisdom is this: if you get the cycling bug big time, you will likely want to upgrade whatever you start with fairly soon, so rhe 105 represents good economy. You aren't throwing away money on a bike you will just replace anyway. If you don't get the bug, well 105 will do fine for you forever. You wouldn't care about the Ultegra anyway. See how that works?

The only thing that is Ultegra on the Bianchi is the rear derailleur and the shifters.
I'd go with the Scott Speedster with the 105s. It's a good looking bike too.

^ Yeah, I'd lean that way too after seeing the specs. Unless the Bianchi really speaks to you, go with the Scott. That $400 can buy a lot of the "extra's" or possible future upgrades (e.g. wheels).

not even a full Ultegra group. If you like the Scott and they have your size, get it. Use the $400 for a helmet, shoes/pedals, and clothes if you don't have that already.

No, the Bianchi is slightly 'better'. But not quite $400 better. Have you ridden both? That's far more important.

well, one person said that. IMO after riding both I don't think 6700 (Ultegra) is better than 5700 (105) other than weight. If both are tuned correctly they shift the same. If it were 6800 I would say jump on it.
At this point I would say ride both and see what you like about each. The group will not matter if you hate how the bike feels.

I have rode both they both are really nice. I would like to eventually upgrade as I get into it more. So the bianchi already would save me money
