So I just finished with my last patient for the week, and it was a good one. Guy has been my patient for 13 yrs. (he is 60yrs old) When I first met him, he weighed around 400# and had just had back surgery. Diabetic, hypertensive. Really unhealthy. About 6 months after surgery, I started talking to him about diet changes and exercise. He has bad osteoarthritis and was not a surgical candidate because of his other risk factors. So he sucked it up. I see him every 3 months and we weigh each time. Today was the first time he was under 300#. Down to 295#, he has lost 10" from his waist. He walks 3-5 miles a day and is back working full time. I could not have been prouder. He is a proud grandpa, and that has been his added incentive to lose more. He said today that this is the first time he's been under 300 since he was a teenager.

How did @LesterOfPuppets interview go?
I did have a pint of fancy juice while I was down there in the big city, though. That stuff is soooo good:

I don't know what percentage of folks on this site feel as I, but I have never had the slightest inclination to race bicycles. A very small percentage, I bet.

and I haven't mentioned the fact that his knees and ankles don't hurt anymore, his diabetes is now rigidly controlled, and he is off all of his BP meds except Lisinopril.

Oh come on you guys, give me a break. Tell me you were not ecstatic when you received your acceptance letter to med school, Tell me you did not feel that you had accomplished the impossible walking down the isle at graduation time from Med school. Tell me you weren't thrilled when you received your acceptance to your first choice residency, and most of all , tell me that you had not walked successfully up the mountain and accomplished what Sisyphus could not, that you did not feel you had accomplished the near impossible when you finished your residency training. And then, when you had passed your boards and been accepted into the fellowship organization of your speciality? It was and remains the most triumphant feeling that I have ever had. Lets shuck the false modesty folks and be honest about what we do and the passion we have for it.

Wow, hope he's alright. Was there a stuffed toy or something that looked like prey nearby?

I now realize if you mention someone in a post, it shows up in their notification tab. That only took two years.
With that in mind, did that rpenman guy leave? He has an opinion about everything in every thread on every topic.

We haven't even seen any races yet. Stumbling around the paddock area looking at the unbelievable classic race cars. I don't even like cars but I'm kind of stupefied by it all. There's easily a billion dollars worth of classic restored functional race cars here.
The pic above is a 1963 Shelby Cobra 427. Not a replica. A real
one.

There is nothing that sounds like a 427 in a Shelby Cobra. A sound all their own, and it's wonderful.
