Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So, a fellow shows up to the club ride today and about five miles in, he gets a flat. Being a good ride starter, I hang with the fellow till he gets it fixed. Oh. He has a tube and levers, but no pump or co2... Come to find out, both tires were flat this morning and he just filled them up.

Another fellow shows up to a seventy mile ride out in farmland running Pro 3's.

I don't get it. At least they both took an early turn, and didn't do the whole thing. I never would have caught the group hauling them behind me.

Wheel woes continue.

Potato chip wheel 808 grams

Only two decent 26" wheels on hand:

871 grams
989 grams (without rimtape!)

Sad, sad day to be adding weight to the race rig.

Hmmm, the rear wheel on the KHS has the same Mavic 238 rim as potato chip wheel. Maybe I'll have some wheelbuilding fun.

BTW the Atlas pasta was fettuccine-ish and served with either cream sauce or pesto. I had both. Homemade eggplant parm was the side dish.

No wild boar for this veg guy.

What's the big deal? Personally, I think Michelin tires are crapola extruded in a vaguely round shape, but ain't the roads paved out there?

It was assemble-your-own taco night. I didn't want to get salsa all over my keyboard.
