Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Same. I always say I'm paid for work product, not time. The key is learning how not to spend 60 hours a week to produce it.

Well, other than being a bit chilly in the morning, it feels like mid-summer:

But it won't be long before the deluge of rain and washed out roads season starts.

Thought Halloween would have been a loud partying day, but I guess the students were off at away parties. Which is great.

The solar panel installers did not do one-call before driving in the grounding rod, and nicked a water line so it's shut off until someone can fix it. I am annoyed; AG is more so.

At least I had a good long run this morning.

Oof. So they hit a water supply line, not just some irrigation?

I had some revelers giggling past my apartment about 12:30. Slept through anything beyond that, not too bad.

High of 83A today. We had rain early morning. It is approaching sweater weather. The Belgian kids(26 and 27) left about an hour ago. It’s been awhile since I have hung with anyone in that age group. Dante showed me his 90+º of cracked rear rim as they rolled out. He plans to have it taken care of in Merida. These folks are not cyclists. They call the bars the steering wheel. They picked up the bikes second hand and made them ready for the road, having overlooked that rim problem apparently. They are riding Schwalbe Marathons though, so must have gotten some advice somewhere. And dynamo hubs, not to be confused with the dynamo hum. Dante carries a non smart phone and a 35mm film camera. A man after my own heart.

Nope. If I'm walking close to home I just walk around the 'hood and the high school.

Ride repot: chilly and brisk but above freezing and no snow. 100% fun!

Saturn report: good news/bad news. Good news is mechanic let it pass and no repairs needed. Bad news is he says this is its last year, as the frame/suspension interface in the rear is rusted beyond repair.
