Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Confirmed via Wikipedia

"Green Day is an American rock band formed in the East Bay of California in 1987"

Is there a law against American bands performing in Canada?

TIL that in the CFL a team can drop-kick it beyond the line of scrimmage and recover it in the end zone (failed attempt as time expired).

This evening, "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" came through the Spotify feed in the living room. Jazzed up version too. Man, what a great melody. I felt inspired so I whipped out the chart from my Real Book and spend a couple min figuring it out.

I also realized that my competency on piano has gone up a notch since Lilly's birth. With my reduced schedule, I have been playing more. Hopefully I can keep this up once I go back full time in January - I want her to grow up in a musical household. I mean, she will, but hopefully I can stay up to snuff

Oh is that REALLY Greenday? I figured it was some Canadian band. Dunno if this is still true but BITD there was an entire Canadian rock genre that we Americans only got a small portion of on our radios. Tune into radio stations in BC and you'd hear all these songs that sounded like pop songs you should know but you'd never heard before or since. Start tuning in just a little north of Bellingham, drive up to Whistler, and we'd just be shaking our heads wondering what the hell is up with Canada rock? Eventually they'd play a Loverboy or Rush song though, and we'd sing along loud as hell

One of my favorite Canada rock videos, this song got a fair amount of play in the USA...

Warning cycling content, as well as espresso pulls, tabletop hockey, and rowing a boat on the pond out back

I like - keep on keeping on !

neither t2p or mrs t2p played an instrument - but we encouraged the kids to play and supported them

our school district was key - has a great music program and both kids took advantage of it

1600 kids alone participate in the strings program grades 3-12 - can’t get them all on stage - so they created the ‘strolling strings’

found a video of t2p oldest kid playing piano … this was his last high school concert … he played violin in the orchestra - but did the piano solo introduction for the strolling strings

.

That you mentioned Loverboy and not Triumph just makes my ears blead. Nothing against Loverboy (saw them twice at Pine knob with wife #1) but Triumph is on another level. Rick just retired from touring...at 70 years old.

Uber driver went through a clear red light and almost got us hit then end up waiting for it to turn green right in the middle of the cross lane, all while wearing headphones.

Reported!

Rant on:

I get so disgusted with the way many people don’t do their jobs. Showed up for my procedure. No one was at the desk. Sign says to sign in. I did and sat down. Young woman comes back to the desk without looking at the sign in sheet to see if anyone new had arrived. After 10 min. I went over to her to make my presence known. She gives me some forms to fill out and puts a wrist band on me. I’d probably still be waiting had I not taken control of the situation.

Rant off.

None of these. Mrs. GJ likes the West side near F&M better. We went to two open hice out that way and she is now thinking more favorably toward Lancaster - mostly I think it was just the particular house we saw on Saturday. It was nice, but it was on a busy street, and that put her off a bit. That, and the sidewalks were really uneven in places - tree-lined streets LOOK great, but tree roots **** up sidewalks but good!
