Industrial strength art I think. Hang 2 bikes on the front and store a lot of rare, collectable parts (crap) inside.

Very cool find! Seller says the frame is "61cm or 25.5" tall" and I'm sitting here going....did ya do the math on that??? He is correct on the 25.5" number, IMO. That's a wonderfully tall SR with all those 7200 AX bits.

Terrific project and certainly unusual to find these days. I'm guessing most got parted just for those interesting components.

I am very much enjoying my Schwinn-Cannondale-Trek carousel (with two orbiting Italian makes) and it appears as if that will continue.

56cm PDG2 for $250 Ashburn VA
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...23226107982467

"Newly rebuilt, early 90s Schwinn Paramount PDG2 road bike. 2x7, 56cm. New tires, cables, tubes. A brand new set of Shimano 105 components all around. Very good condition for its age"

Looking at the components, they are either new or in really good shape

Katakura Silk. This one certainly has enough hardware hanging off of it (what the heck is that thing on the left fork blade? Lock?) one of Silk's lower-end offerings? Heavy probably, somewhat unique for sure.

One really ugly bike.

Would win the ugly bike contest, if there's one. Does that down tube (?) even have a structural value? Do I see two head tubes?

Arnold, you find the most unusual! There was a sliver of time within the bike boom era for the novel swing bikes. I can't tell for sure if this one is homemade but rolling the dice, tend to think its a goofy one from back when WSI.

Crazy and scary party fun, you should grab that bike! Its surely a hoot ;")

I can't believe that they actually made bikes like that. Google showed me this you tube link.
If I were younger and more agile, I can try to learn how to ride it. So I'll have to pass. I'll be more than happy to pick it up and send it your way though. It's rainy here in LA and nothing much to do until the start of the Rams championship game.

My nephew's wife tried one of those swing bikes, fell and cracked a rib. Must be an acquired taste. Pass.

That's wacky! When your frame feels like there's a hinge in the middle, and there really is...

Everything you said. I don't love weight or rattling attachments, but I like that.

I tried finding some information on what looks like a front wheel lock and failed, but I found this interesting bike from the same company (and the page includes an explanation of where the 'Silk' name came from):

I saw this unusual bike a few days ago in La Mirada. Same seller had a Ciocc and Basso frames for sale i was interested in buying.

Really interesting bike.

I'm nutty enough but think I might get in trouble. Not physically in riding such a contraption but for being a bad influence on the grandkids. You should have seen the reactions after I gave them skateboards and a street skate ramp. (No one yet has earned my 'off-road' board with disc brakes).....

Why the kink in the second top tube? Wouldn't it be cheaper an stronger to run it straight back to the seat tube?

They had a ton of downtube lugs to use up?

^^^^^ This. Running a parallel tube would have required a custom lug; I can't think of any other application for a lug of that design.

I'm assuming you bought them legit boards; I would have loved if someone did that for me. I was stuck with department store boards with crappy trucks and speed wobbles...

This is just a low end Panasonic but the seller is asking $15, and it appears to be in decent shape.

Frame like that can be the start of a halfway-decent low-buck build. Ad gets a wacky-world honorable mention, for the foam grips, the quasi-wino handlebar position, and the creative use of the seat post clamp.

One of our members has a beautiful chrome KS, tall one. If I ran across one in my size I'd have to exert serious restraint, they are beautiful. Silk built a wide range of bikes, so few of which seem to have ever made it to the States...
