Probably UNI discs, a fabric cover with plastic U-clips to hold the two sides to the spokes. Yes, early and cheap aero disc wheels.

Vintage Peugeot Single Speed - Totally Refurbished - $350 (Moncks Corner)

I'm selling my late Vintage 1980s Peugeot Single Speed Road Bike.
I've done a lot of work to it, including:
-Brand new fork
-Brand new crank set
-Brand new black steel pedals
-New grip tape
-New back brake
She needed a few things when I got her, but I've done all the necessary work to get her in great riding shape. Have about $650 invested. She also has all the original decals.
Includes a very nice wheel set, two Bontrager 700 racing wheels (typically about $200-$400 a piece).
The only thing the bike does not have is a front brake. It does not have a flip flop hub, it is purely a single speed, meaning you shouldn't need the front brake, and the back brake is new. The reason I haven't installed the front brake is because, due to the upgraded wheel set having a non-standard diameter, it will require an extra-reach brake. The tires are slightly worn, but still very ridable.
Used to ride downtown all the time, but don't ride as much anymore. It's such a beautiful bike, I hate to sell, but I have too many bikes and she's a gorgeous road bike that somebody else will get a lot of use out of.
Great downtown/commuter bike.
