I bet that guy is just a blast at parties.
For realz, though. He's not wrong. Some people think "Hazelnuts are healthy!" and spread it on thick. Just know that it's candy (Basically the filling in Ferrero Rocher) and treat it accordingly. This would be the same as someone using copious amounts of jelly and telling themselves they are getting a fruit serving.

Next, you're going to tell me that ketchup is not a vegetable.

I think I mentioned this to you earlier, but even if the power estimate isn't spot on, pulling calories from that number would be way closer than the calorie estimate from Strava.
I was wondering to myself why Strava wouldn't use the power estimate for calories as it would be way more accurate than the highly inaccurate speed/time calorie estimate because estimated power isn't even a premium feature. Then it occurred to me that lots of people would rather think they burned twice as many calories as they did and Strava knows this.

I was just referring to the fact in my 32 years of life any access to calorie burn information has always showed walking burned the most calories and I was wondering if that was correct like Tsntr. I used to run cross country in high school, and sometimes train on the tread mill and the calorie burn on the tread mill was almost always more when walking than running.

Now look at this list: https://www.nationmaster.com/country...Health/Obesity
USA is #1 ! Germany is 14th. It's almost as if lifestyle and levels of physical activity can play a huge role as well.

Thanks! Not perfect, but I tried to make them fit along the lines of the tire as well as possible. They came with a jam up and jelly down mounting system, and I just had to fabricate one bracket for the rear fender.

Personally, after a binge week or two, I've cut sugar almost entirely.

I would like to do a 300k this year. I did two 200k rides last year and they both went well enough that I think 300 is a reasonable
goal.
1200k is a long-term goal. There's one this year that looks amazing but I believe they make you complete a full SR series before you can enter, and that's just not going to happen this year. https://www.ironporcupine1200k.org/
The club I ride with is repeating the 200k that was my favorite ride of all time this year. Super excited about doing that one again.
I'm also hoping to do a little mini-tour on the Elroy-Sparta Trail with my wife this summer.
goal.

That mini-tour looks good. You will have fun.

Kinda/sorta sad: Signing up for the short route on the gravel ride because you are out of shape and getting back into things.
Really sad: Finding out there are age group awards and searching Strava for the names of the other 7 people you are up against to see if you have a chance and getting competitive about it.

Back to burn, I use a requirement number based on those years of records. I don't measure anything unless it's exercise like walking, cycling, lawn mowing, snow shoveling, etc. For walking, I currently use a smart watch. For cycling, I use a HR strap and a power meter though the PM just sort of tweaks the HR calorie reading in my case slightly. Without the HR monitor and/or PM, I've yet to find a program that accurately measures calories. None, nada, forget it. For example, I've owned several Garmin since their inception and their caloric readings are generally 2X for me, in other words, worthless.
What I find interesting is that my PM and HR may report 20 cal/mi. today and 45 tomorrow and my records and scale readings prove the numbers correct. The combo of HR and PM never seems to fail me.

I would agree. One only has to listen to riders after a ride gleeful report a 2,000 calorie burn for a 15 mile ride.

Another interesting tidbit. Since the cessation of the coffee addiction, I am sleeping more and better, and am still in hammock as we approach 9 AM. In the lead-up weeks, I had been getting up anywhere between 3 and 5, on a daily basis. Wake up, drink coffee, get going.
I put weight on my bum shoulder, this morning, without pain. I may see what it feels like on the upright bike. Restorative chiropractor appt. this afternoon.

I use a Fitbit 24/7, but also have the power meter on the bike. The Fitbit estimate when riding is laughable (very low, in my case), but if you have Strava and Fitbit synced, the Strava numbers will overwrite the Fitbit estimates. Strava estimates, on rides when I don't have a PM, are better than Fitbit, but usually a little low - personal weight, HR, equipment info (bike type, weight, etc) all factor in, but are a little coarse, then there's other factors like wind, road surface, etc, that aren't taken in to account.

I wonder if it's heat buildup. I get a similar thing on treadmills and on indoor trainers. Don't know about running vs. walking outdoors.

But with the all of the calorie trackers and what not. Nothing does a better job for me than a scale and a mirror, and out of all the different variations of workouts over the years. Cycling has by far been the best for my body.

Vain, But Lacking Talent
I will say that finally snagging a power meter has been great for calorie counting. I'm not currently tracking calories with an app because I'm more worried about riding my bike, but I have counted calories enough to know what I'm putting in my body and it helps to have a real number for calories burned in terms of offsetting/complementing my daily intake.

Speaking of food, I have a bit of a dilemma on my hands today. A vendor at work is supplying lunch, but I know that it's going to be straight up southern, deep fried goodness. Not really sure if it's a good idea with the ride tomorrow. I'm not afraid of offending anyone if I decide to decline the lunch, but it's also delicious and I want it.
