Colour options tend to be limited today because there are so many more bike spec options compared with decades ago. So for any given bike spec it is usually only practical to offer it in one or two colour options. But I prefer having more bike spec options vs more colour options.

I was thinking the same actually. From my fading memories of my local “pro” bike shop, I seem to recall there were more frame colours, but then most of their higher end bikes were built to order. So they would typically display a bunch of identical steel frames in a range of different colours. The more mainstream shops had very little choice of anything. I remember as a teenager in the mid eighties buying a metallic green Carlton Criterium. It was the only colour choice and there were no spec options other than frame size.

Consumers are stuck between choosing the color they want or the specs they want and that's BS, but that's their business model. As far back as I can remember, bikes came in one color per model, or maybe two at the most.

Two separate things:
That Trek intends to reduce the variety in their offerings.
And that so many bikes offered by bicycle companies these days lack color options, just as the 'Model T' did 100 years ago.

Maybe you shouldn't have used Trek specifically?...that would help make your point a bit better, since some other brands have had more shades of black over the last 8ish years, but you getting thst wrong just further shows you are simply rambling to ramble.
You can call it a joke, but it wasnt funny because there was no punchline and the observation wasn't even accurate.
Sometimes it's good to keep trying because you improve with time and effort. In your case, I suggest you stop now and never try the joke/observation again.

Offering entry-level and mid-level drop bar bikes in multiple color choices was easier back when manufacturers sold only three or four frame sizes per model.
Peugeot was probably an outlier in the 1970's, offering the UO-8 in (according to fading memory) white, black, blue, green, yellow, orange, and (slightly later, maybe) silver. Purple, too? Can't remember.

Yeah, that's a broken rim all right. Still no evidence if it happened before or after the tire dismounted.
Either way, hookless is still dumb.

Tubulars for the win. De Gent might have flatted (not a given) but the roll to a stop would have been boring. Especially with disc brakes that don't need the rim to be in good shape. (This is why I went back to tubulars. I never want to do a De Gent again.)

If you hit something hard enough to break your front rim, I don't think using tubulars will guarantee you don't crash.

He looked to be off the road, but on the shoulder, up against the inside guardrail. Would be completely foreseeable to hit a rock, chunk of pavement, or a hole in the edge of the pavement surface. The speed at which he went down, suddenly, indicates an impact. Tire blowing off would likely give some roll out before losing control.
