Great pic!
Im woefully undertrained to blast out for 12 straight miles at the speeds required to be competitive. I really need to train harder and I'm going to search for a program that gets me there today. I Zwift at home, but I really need to do more. I'm looking at the P3 again this afternoon, but that's an N+1 deal

I just do what my coach assigns, but typically its 3 interval sessions per week. We started with a lot of short V02max type intervals and then moved to lots of long threshold intervals. Then usually 2 days off per week and 2 days of group riding or JRA or sometimes races/openers, etc.
I like the interval workouts though, its always nice to see what you can do. Enjoy!

Wow, congratulations.
I keep looking at those places where seconds could have been had too and try to remember why I was "slow" at that spot.

Doing a short ride in Georgia and then headed for four days in the Smokies.
From yesterday's ride. I'm the "stocky" guy on the far left.

Another TT? You've got the fever too.
What happened in your TT, do you think? Pacing, fitness, wrong bike? Do you have a power meter?
Here's a pic Mr H took as I was coming past him at one point on the course. Inexpensive TT bike and you can see its pretty aero and worth a look. Fuji Norcom Straight, I got the 2.5, but might have been better off with the better frame for a similar price, since I've replaced literally everything on it except the brakes and seat post. I'm not saying this is the best TT bike out there so much as this is a big bang for your buck- good aero clean bike for not that much $.

Vain, But Lacking Talent
So on ride 1 of my mission to ride three bikes in one day, I end up crashing a triathlon event again. This time the course was empty on the out leg, but just as I came back to their turnaround point, I was just getting on the course when the fast guys were about to turn around. I thought I was going to upset some people as the fast guys came up on me, but I rode and rode, looked back, kept riding, looked back. I never saw them.
Then another guy was on the opposite side of the road on the out leg with a flat. I slowed down, waited for some cars to pass and then rode back to him. I said "I'm assuming it's against the rules for you to accept any help." And he said "At this point, I don't think it matters." So I set down my bike to help him with the flat (he was out of CO2) and I look back and the fast guys were finally there.
Maybe I could have beat them on the return leg? What was that about? I guess I didn't have to swim first.
Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if they disqualify him, but at least he didn't have to stand on the side of the road.
Also, I was surprised to get a PR on one of the tougher segments I've been targeting over the past year or so. That was nice.
And I have no idea what my LTHR is. Isn't it supposed to be difficult to ride at above it for more than 10% of a ride? Strava says I did it for 19%.

Dennis, I meant to ask the other day when you showed a clear picture of the tandem. You said it was a size 53/50. But I noticed then (and now too) that the two saddle heights look almost identical. Actually to my eye the back stoker's saddle looks taller than the captain's. I can't tell about the top tubes. Are the two positions really that different in size? Are you more torso and less legs, so you needed the longer top tube but run your saddle shorter? Now your friends on the right, that is a different story altogether. What am I missing?
For the record, our "easy" 29 mile ride today was 18.2 mph.

Saw a video on the website-that-shall-not-be-named a few days ago of the 2015 cat 4 version. Only the first couple of laps before he got dropped and the camera went wonky but the hill does indeed look brutal. As in people falling over/having to dismount kind of brutal.

Not to discount the value of the Fuji (it's an underrated bike) but this is truly a golden age of cheap TT/tri bikes. The Cervelo P2 is stonking for the price, so is the Felt DA, same with the Trek whatever-it-is, and I think there's even an affordable Shiv. All as fast or faster than the superbikes of four years ago, and stupid cheap.

Triathlon report from Mrs. Doug28450 is that Clown 2 finished 13 out of 30 in her gender/age group. That's not too bad. Results are not posted yet so I can't see how her disciplines were.
I wonder how datlas did in his triathlon.

I survived the tri. Olympic length. Here are the basics (I don't have split times yet).
1. I finished
2. Only a little rain. Bike course had wet roads which slowed me down a smudge.
3. Swim was fine. I am only mediocre so I think my time was around 32-33 minutes. No broken bones like last time.
4. Bike was very hilly with some climbs as long as 2.5 miles. It was fantastic. I passed so many tri geeks on TT bikes.
5. Run was very hilly which destroyed me. I am an ok runner but have been running on a flat MUP. The hills were pretty long and really slowed me down.
I had a goal of finishing in under 3 hours which would be easy on a flat course but very tough on this one. I believe my final time was 3:07:xx, which I suppose is ok. My tri friend who does ironmans and is decent in all 3 disciplines barely broke 3 hours.
I am bushed.
