Cool story behind it all. I planned a day off in Yaak, which is in a remote area in the northwest corner of the state that is home to black and grizzly bears as well as mountain lions. Right near my campground is Pete Creek Rd., which runs some 20 miles into the wilderness. Rode about 5 miles of dirt hoping to spot a bear. Then, amazingly, it become paved. Did about a mile of pavement and decided to turn back. After all, it was my rest day. Hit the dirt again. When I came to a spot above the creek I thought "If I were a bear, I might head down that way for a drink." and stopped on the side of the road. Stood there in silence for a few minutes drinking water and looking around. Turned to look back up the road when the thing wanders out of the brush in the direction of the creek. I let out a big "Yessss!" and the thing stopped to check me out. That gave me time to get out the camera. Patients is usually not one of my virtues, but it paid off that time.

BTW did you bring bear repellent or any other defensive devices??

For the Strava users, are you all experiencing non-persistent log-in on the desktop site? I think it's been a week or two, but the fact that I have to log in with each browsing session has been getting on my nerves.

Only DEET for bugs. Black bears almost never mess with you, even when close. Chances of encountering a grizzly were extremely remote. But they do live up there.
Interestingly, the day I saw the bear the campground host and his girlfriend took a drive up some side road from the road I was on. A mountain lion jumped down from a cliff and ran in front of their vehicle for a while.

I use the iPhone app more often, but if I type in strava.com into my browser it takes me immediately to my dashboard. I just checked and that's still the case.

On the phone or on a computer? On a phone, people usually keep their browsers open all of the time, so that wouldn't surprise me. On the desktop, closing the tab will keep the session going, but closing the browser window means that I have to log in again.

On the computer (macbook running Chrome), but TBH I think that although the tab has been closed, the actual browser is still on. I am too ascared to close it. I typically have a few tabs always open (not Strava).
