Did 32 miles on the tandem today. It was a nice ride!

Stay warm and healthy, everybody.

I just started 2015 with a bang, or a scraping noise. Crashed hard, no details in this reply, I'll post a separate thread about my stupidity.

Didn't hit head. Had beer. Dogfish Head 90min IPA. It does things to you.

I fixed it above.

How are you? You're the one who crashed.

50 miles at my typical 17 mph pace.

I played golf with 11 other fine gentlemen first thing this morning and then went out for a ride afterwards. Just wondering if this is what retirement could be like if and when the time comes????

After wimping out on the 1st just because of the cold and wind, I had to go out on Friday. It was overcast but really a pretty pleasant day. 53 miles, 5K of climbing.

Jim,
I am fine this morning, a bit sore and stiff, but I did sleep last night. Taking Aleve for the aches. Bicycle gets a new RD cable, bar tape and some adjustments, I get a new helmet, jersey and tights. thanks for the concern. I'll be fine and back riding shortly.

What little snow we had is disappearing and studded tires are a must. Nice ride today on what should have been busy XC tracks and some nice riding on glaring ice on the lakes.

Extremely windy 49 mile ride this morning. Winds were 12-16 mph with gusts of 20+ mph. With some of the gusts, we were lucky to get 14 mph. Legs are sore tonight.

15.15 miles this afternoon, kind of sore all over, but nothing that can't be managed. Checked up on the little dog that caused the crash, she is fine, owner had no idea about her getting hit by the bicycle. She asked if she needed to replace anything and if I was alright, nice lady, as expected. Nothing is necessary from them, its just life and one of those things, glad that her dog is fine.

Yesterday I rode my first fifty miler from Oakdale, CA to Lathrop and back. It took me five hours and eighteen minutes but it really felt good when I got home knowing the average 71 year old wouldn't even try it!

Tonight was the third ride of the year, and on my third different bike. Tonight's ride was my 1983 Raleigh Super Course.

Tonight was dry, just a little chilly (low 40s), maybe a bit warmer than last night, but quite a bit windier.

I'm slacking off here - forgot to post Sunday's, 51 mile ride with my weekend riding buddies. Nice 35 mile solo ride today. Great weather and no winds for a change. Legs still a little stiff from all the windy rides from last week so they did do a little complaining on the ride today. A good massage, some ibuprofen and a folded blanket over the legs during the night should have them ready for a good ride tomorrow (if it doesn't rain).

17.53 miles early this afternoon, just trying to get things feeling better and shake out the toxins building up in the numerous bruises. Some really colorful, neat patterns emerging now.

I've found my lower temperature limit today. Just the usual 5 mile commute home. 21°F. Dusty, squelchy snow was falling off and on today, the kind that crunches when stepped on. There was no more than maybe a half inch on the ground, and no glaze patches, so I decided to try my luck this evening, having wimped out and put the bike on the bus this AM. Sure was good to be out and moving - if I stopped, I'd just solidify.
I had 5 layers on top, and thermal liners inside my gloves. No specialized gear at all. I certainly didn't race home, especially due to the homebound vehicular traffic, but by the time I reached my home, my fingers were complaining. Surprisingly, that was the only part of me that was cold, even though I had no shoe covers. I imagine that would have changed if I had wanted to do another ten miles though.
