Wonder if @Rowan is in bed sleeping off a drunken New Years party.

Oof da. Did some 30-sec seated intervals today - a liiiiiittle bit of a different kind of stress than the FTP-ish work I've been doing as of late. I'll have to watch that first set of stairs that I walk down.

For the all-around sports fans, a really well done piece on Muhammad Ali from the NYTimes.

We went to watch the fireworks on the river put on for the kids at 9.30pm which is the prelude to the ones at midnight. It was a nice show. The weather has been such crap here, the turnout for this one was much less than in previous years. I was home in bed by 10.15pm.
Anyway... We've started 2017 already. When ARE you guys ever going to catch up?

Off to do a 100km ride, first for the year, and part of a metric C-a-month for an Audax Australia award. If we are successful this ride, it will be 3 down out of 12 (season starts in November).

I dressed up the cover letter and resume on Motorola's site to which I continue to apply to jobs on. I'm still looking for my first 'good' job. Been looking and applying consistently over the past 4 years. I think having a PMP cert would really increase my odds, however I really want the (next) employer to pay for it and to then trade-up to a better position within the same company. I do not want to collect certs on my own dime, a very costly en devour to which reward is not certain. Maybe I'm being a cheap ass. I don't know.

2016 is fading fast, and the fat lady is getting warmed up.

Retul bike fit was cake, looks like it straightened me out a whole bunch. Was told to switch to road pedals and road shoes for additional stability and power transfer. Important to do so?
Seat went up and back, hoods down, stem flipped (up), brifter shifted slightly inward, cleats moved back, shim installed on right foot. Retul printout / report being e-mailed later I believe.

Here's to a 2017 of pain free riding!
Those guys can really find a lot of little changes to make to get your joints tracking just perfect, and then keep it that way.

I'm done on the bike for the year. No big push for me today, just a casual MTB ride introducing my friend to the sport. He had fun and didn't get hurt (and didn't break the equipment) so I'll call that a total success any day.
2643 miles, 72,650' elevation, and 206 hours on the bike.
My real accomplishment this year has to do with the reshaping of my diseased heart muscle that I was able to make much better. I got that good news in September. It's kind of hard to compete with that, so I'm very meh on mileage. It's just not what matters to me anymore.
Tomorrow I start the diet in anger. That's my goal for next year. Lose another 30 pounds. We shall see how that goes. Going to be a LOT of plain chicken salads in my future.
