I just had lunch with an old friend that just got out of rehab. Dude looks/sounds better than I've seen him in years, and has actually had a job for six months. I'm shocked. Went to this little Korean diner around the corner. Last time I was there was a brunch date back in the winter. Still awesome. Now to listen to some Wu-Tang and read comics.

Edit: I'm thinking about trying to save for a certification at UBI or Barnett's. Or maybe a Carmichael training week... Hmm...

Bikes: thats none of your information BF

Redbull is streaming their new video where the trail ends if anyone is interested, I know its not SSFG and most here aren't tail riders, but I though someone might appreciate it. pretty gnarly stuff regardless of gears

heres the link https://www.redbull.com/en/bike/films...the-trail-ends

edit: Sal Masakelele stops his antics at the 1 hour mark and the movie starts then

A very loud screech, similar to dragging a dead body across a tile floor.

Oh wait I don't know what that sounds like...

Today I got the package from home I was waiting for, so that I can sell stuff to support the bike habit.

Bikes: Bike Count: Rising.

Today, due to a stress riser in the fork, the stock fork went back onto the 930.

It happens, the bike rides better with the steel fork actually.

I know the feeling. I worked at an Apple store the day the first iPhone launched. There was a line around the mall. 1 hour before closing, everyone had been served. Everyone left with an iPhone. I was amazed. A customer could have showed up at 8:30PM walked right to the counter and bought an iPhone, no line, no wait.

I can probably equate Apple Geniuses to some sort of corporate programmed automaton with a second to nature acquired apathetic and pseudo-understanding personality traits optimized for retail profit maximization. Strange creatures indeed.

I'm very tempted to get an iphone 5 but I'm a bit torn with how apple was stingy with the new features and the similar resemblance with the 4(s). Not to mention all the manufacturing line leaks took away the fuzzy Christmas day like feeling from Apple release events.

Did all the in store geniuses serenade you with applause after you clocked out on your last day?

i've had Macs since my first computer in '95, but went to an Apple store for the first time last year (bad hard drive). very much the forced joviality of a TGIF's coupled with koolaid drinking comet cult. all really decent people, but i imagine it must be like working at Disneyland: always looking over your shoulder in case you're caught not living up to the corporate image. felt bad for them. i now refer to it as the "church of the shiny wall".

today i shall attempt to shave even more time off my ride home. cannot get away from this place fast enough. i am constantly reminded that, although there are good people here, the primary purpose of the criminal justice system is to perpetuate itself. should have followed my first instinct and just gotten on the plane for that Thai Buddhist monastery that accepted me after college. darn meeting the perfect woman....

Had NO problem picking up an iPhone 5 today. I got in on the preorder late, so it wasn't gonna ship until 10/5. Since I have a locked in buyback price of $370 for my 4S as long as I ship it by 10/1, I figured I'd give picking one up in person a shot. Got up this morning, used the pain in my right knee as a justification to blow off my scheduled 20 mile marathon training run and instead rode my bike the 5 miles to Apple store on 14th and 9th. Left my place at 11:30 am, got my new phone, went to Chelsea Market and got a chili dog at Dixon's Family Meats and a lobster roll at the Lobster Pound and was back home in BK by 1:30. I'm not a fan boy (been building P.C. desk tops for <20 yrs), but I'd be lying if I didn't say I was impressed by how smooth things ran at the Apple store. Easy peasy. Now freakin' algebra homework (boo!) and then the "All Tomorrow's Parties" festival all weekend (yeah!).

took the dog for a walk along the wetlands trail. had to deal with a guy on a Fantom Cross Uno passing too close (less than 12") to peds w/o warning, in -super intense mode-, who managed to complete a 6mi loop in the time it took me to walk 4mi with the dog trying to mark everything. good thing i saw him load up his jersey pockets with powerbars.

next time will just clothesline.
