What is in your first aid kit?

For those of you who carry a first aid kit when you ride what is in yours?

In mine I have:

These items can be used for anyone:
1 one time use CPR microshield clear mouth barrier
2 pair of the safe skin purple nitrile gloves
1 small container of q-tips
1 small pair of scissors, similar to cuticle scissors
1 small pair of tweezers
1 roll of gauze
1 roll of first aid tape
1 safety pin
2 small packets of homeopathic poison ivy scrub
2 small packets of neosporin antibiotic cream
an assortment of differant size band aids ranging from the knuckle & fingertip style to the standard rectangle shape to the larger style
a number of alcohol prep pads
a small container of dissolving soap strips

my use only:
SPF 30 lip protectant
bottle of an assortment of pain reliever, anti-acid & stomach aids

It all fits into a nice red bag with the first aid cross on it which fits in my recumbent seat bag.

For antiseptic wipes I always carry a package of baby wipes. Of course it will ont fit in the first aid kit but does fit in the seat bag.

What is in your first aid kit?

Questions comments about what I carry? Feel free.

Wow. I carry just a few antiseptic wipes for road rash, one sterile gauze pad and a small assortment of Band-Aids.

Wow, that must be some amazing commute you have. And I thought I carried a lot. My bike seat bike is already jam-packed with stuff for fixing the bike.

Homeopathic poison ivy wipe? Is this for those shortcuts through abandoned back lots? What I know of homeopathic solutions ... you might as well use gatorade.

I assume some of this came in a pre-packaged kit. Which kit was it? How would you use the nitrile gloves? I used to carry a pair of non-sterile latex gloves -- for working on the bike.

Couple of cravats and a cell phone. When the ambulance gets there, the pros can take over. All I have to do is hold him/her (or me) together until they get there. They can package and ship.

If it doesn't require the pros to handle, it can wait until I get home.

Actually this was supposed to have been posted in the A&S forum, I thought I was there when I posted it. My kit is for any ride I do, not just commuting. The gloves are if I have to treat someone with an open wound or they have to treat me. I have a box of them at home.

The kit was partially pre packaged, the brand name is Sawyer. I added the gloves, cpr mouth barrier q-tips, neosporin, poison ivy scrub, scissors, tweezers, gauze, tape, alcohol pads, pain releiver, lip ointment & some of the bandages.

Cell phone.

In Russia first aid training is mandatory for getting driver license, as well as first aid kit in every car. The doctor who was giving us that training told us a few horror stories from his practice when 'good samaritians' actually killed poor guys.

I keep a couple of bandaids in my seat bag. I've actually had to use one recently thanks to the "bomb-proof" Arkel pannier hook system. Aluminum + tight rack clearance + knuckle skin = bandaid.

I carry nothing. If I'm cut enough to bleed so much that I can't make it home, I'm calling an ambulance. So far this hasn't happened; I haven't had any cuts longer than about an inch or so, and they don't bleed much after the first couple of minutes. I brush the gravel out of the injury, squirt some water on it and get back on and go. I'll fix it up later.

i bought a camping first aid kit that came in a teeny tiny red backpack with belt loops on it. it has band-aids, neosporin, lip ointment, maybe some sunscreen, that kind of stuff. it was like 5 bucks when camping stuff was on sale.

I have a first aid kit in the bottom of my Camelback but it is still in the cellophane wrapper so that it stays intact. No idea what is in it, but my first aid kit is a cellphone- and the only time I had to use that- I could not get a signal. Always carry a Fresh water bottle with me though and By the time I have washed out what I think is a bad cut- it stops bleeding.

If option A doesn't solve the problem, use option B.

I carry nothing. A little blood from time to time does not bother me.
Once I crashed into a curb going 15mph. The resulting road rash covered half my left leg. That was a pretty sight for the bus.

First aid kit = water bottle.

Wash _what ever the problem is_ off, keep riding. If it's worse than that, it's back to the car, stop at the nearest house, or 911.

Never really had the need for a first aid kit while riding. An ambulance? Well, sure!

For poison Ivy, try to find some Jewel Weed. Crush it on the affected area. The itching and rash will go away very soon afterward. Itching stops almost immediately. Rash takes hours to days to go away. May have to re-apply after a day or two.

Bottle of antiseptic/numbing wash, gauze pads for cleaning or large areas, large bandaids, medium bandaids, smaller bandaids(why not I have all the others) and non-adhesive cling tape. had a two inch gash on my ankle that went down to the top of my riding shoes and socks, stopped at target, bought all that stuff, wrapped up my leg and kept riding. Of course, I carry way to much crap. but hey, thats me.

Actually Option B can be used to obtain options C and D, thereby leaving C and D at home and saving weight.

It must be my boy scoutish nature but I try and carry the "Ten Essentials" whereever I go. So that includes a first-aid kit. Often no food though. However I find the thing that works the greatest in almost all situations is a nice clean and packed bandana. Clean, ointment (or booze) and wrap with the bandana. It can close a deep cut with a nice strong tie. Although now that I look at then ten essentials again it seems that I am lacking a map and compass in my bike kit. Which seems redundant on a commute hah.

Its easy to pack light with a bandana too.

Sterile gloves? why? It's my own damn blood!

Anyway I carry tiny tweezers, several alcohol pads to clean my hands and wounds (so what if it stings), small rolls of tape and gauze, couple of 3x3 pads, several 1" bandaids, butterflys, skin glue, Neosporin, and an assortment pills for allergy, headaches, diarrhea, and swelling. And a cork in case of severe diarrhea! (I hope you realize that I was kidding about the cork?)
