Bianchi SS/FG

This is my Bianchi SS/FG conversion. I realize that the rear brake cable housing isn't connected to anything. I got rid of the crappy modolo brakes that came with it and bought a tektro front brake. This, of course, was all after I had already wrapped the bars. Next project will be to remove this housing and switch the right brake lever to actuate the front brake. Also, the two sides of the bars are wrapped differently, which should be changed. The BB badly needs to be serviced: it makes loud knocking sounds when I'm pedaling. I'm in the process of lacing a Campy Strada rim to an older Shimano 6600 front hub, which will look better than whatever Sun Rims wheel is on there now.

I'm really happy about this new Easton MonkeyLite Riser bar I scored for only 20 bucks at the LBS used bin. Normally $85. Its light, strong and just perfect in rise. My bike is lighter. The old one was heavy.

my roommate and I dumpstered an FSA carbon riser last night. He dibbed it but says I have auto dibs on the next carbon piece we come across. We checked it, it seems fine structurally but he still said he's going to take it easy on it.

Please explain this "dumpstered", so I too can dumpstered. Did you just search dumpsters near bike shops?

I would be inclined to think there is a reason why a carbon bar is in the trash.

i'm not a negative nancy, it looks nice, what cranks?

I love izumi chains, but i would throw that master link out and put a full link in, i just feel weird knowing a masterlink could **** up, espcially if you aren't running brakes.

That is a KMC chain, correct? I've never ever seen or heard of one of those masterlinks coming apart. A shoddy job with a chain tool would be more dangerous than a master link. Plus it makes it way easier to clean your chain.

I keep liking this bike more and more.
Nice work on that...

I have an original Joe Murray Kona Explosif (1988) frame that is just waiting to get built up and am leaning towards building a fully rigid ss that should curb out at 20 or less pounds.

well worth being careful with it, but still, you'd be surprised what people throw out.

Those explosifs are nice bikes. I've been beating the piss out of this one for almost twenty years now :

Technically, it's 'under the stairs'.

I've been telling myself that's perfectly acceptable.
