Can't decide if I want to go full gumwall tires. I hadn't thought about it before but I'm actually kind of liking the look of the rear tire.
The front is a 28mm while the rear is a 23mm (most likely go 25mm/25mm when I go new tires) so there is a visual difference there...but just can't figure out what tire set to pull the trigger on.. first off, how long have you seriously been riding that disc? 1a. Like seriously, i want details. Have you ate **** in a crosswind yet? Do *****es pop their tits out on sight or do you have to talk to them? maybe just a smile?
In all seriousness, you definitely need to go full gumwall. the main reason being your bike would look on point and you don't have to (read that as should not) buy a new seatpost. the gumwall with the gold stem bars and (this is what does it for me, schwing!!!!) the gold chain are the perfect amount of contrast to the black and red. holy **** it looks good man, and i just looked up and realized the viner logo is like, holy ****, goldish! don't think about it too much man, go gumwall and enjoy! ps. if you ever visit Oakland bring the disc just so i can mount and take pictures with it on my Samson. I don't even want to ride one of those ever, i feel like knowing that it sucks super hard ass is ultimately more enjoyable than experiencing how hard it sucks super ass. |

Looks good, I have a celeste Bianchi myself and powder coated another frame celeste-ish. Intrigued by Spray.bike net paint, from their description it's "dry fall powder coating" not really sure what that means.
What prep work did you do? |

Thanks. The stem is a Nitto 90 which is closer to a 100mm which fits me perfect for this frame size (56/55.5). I ride a lot in the city and used to have a mountain bike with wider bars. Just made me nervous having to go extra slow to avoid side mirrors or even walking the bike between two parked cars. I saw a recent MASH video where the bars have to 48cm+ and it makes me cringe thinking about navigating one of those bikes in traffic. I remember smashing my a pinkie knuckle on a mirror with my old MTB...I ended up cutting down the bars and adding Profile bolt-on bullhorn extensions to protect my hands. Won't ever go wide again.
I still think my wide bar aversion goes back to childhood and my BMX bikes. Of course dropping the bike on its side would rip the bars through the end of the grips. Then navigating my bike in the garage on foot (with my hands cupped over the bar ends) between my dad's two cars was just terrifying...because I knew an exposed bar end adding a inadvertent pinstripe to my dad's favorite car would be the death of me. |

I <3 Craigslist so much sometimes. 2nd dive into Aluminum frame/CF fork, thinking the geo of the Vigorelli will be much more comfy than the Low// Pursuit I had awhile back. tomorrow I hope to get the crankset installed and get my first taste of the Campy lifestyle TREAT YO SELF!!! |
LOVE the paint on that Cinelli. I am not a real big fan of the latest MASH varieties but that paint is super clean. I'm super ignorant on modern Cinelli bikes..when did they offer that color?
You decide on a grip color...various colors could bring out minor colors on the bike. If you do go black, you should do the Cinelli Caleido. Every now and then I'll change my location and do craigslist searches in SF....SO MANY good/higher end parts but the screaming deals seem to be rare (or snagged immediately). |
Some places say its a 2011, some say its a 2012. Paint is pretty dirty, especially the white, bike has definitely been ridden. also came with a nice little dent on the top of the downtube courtesy of someone trying to leverage a u-lock and steal it. worked in my favor though because it was dirt cheap.
SF craigslist is the best if you are patient. I mainly bought this frame for the Campy cranks/BB and because I had just acquired the WI wheelset and wanted to give them a spin. Most of this build will probably find it's way back on to craigslist in the next few months unless I find a way to justify two fixed gears. Hopefully will have made a few bucks and gotten a chance to try a new frame at the end of everything thx to the good ol craigslist. |

I actually ordered the '09 in 2009 but received a '10. It was sold alongside the black italo ones in '13. Earlier models have integrated headset (like pwebb's and mine, with the visible lower cup), later models have internal headsets (like leaders, aventons, etc). |
thx for the info! do you know what the difference is between the models with my paintjob and the other blue ones that say Cinelli on the downtube with a slightly different pattern and more black????
Also, from what google tells me the bearings in the headset are cartridge bearings? Does that mean a sealed cartridge that I just order a new one of from the LBS when it gets crunchy? headset felt a little crunchy when i bought it, but after putting the wheel on and changing stems, greasing and tightening everything, it now feels a bit better. finally, whats the best way to punch out the break hole cover? I hate the green little bullseye covering the brake hole and i'm most likely gonna remove it. I'm assuming lightly tapping it out from behind with a screwdriver??? maybe tape off around the outside of the hole to prevent paint chips?? any better advice? thx in advance |

Bearings are cartridge and can be replaced with the same spec'd ones. Use to drill to take out the little plug that hides the front brake hole. I used a drill press to do mine. Drill from the front. While doing it, at some point, the bit will catch and the plug will break free from the paint and it will spin; all you have to do after that is pull out and the plug should follow. It shouldn't chip too much; if anything your front brake will more than hide it. |
