What's with the rear brake cable running on top of the water bottle cage bosses. :foo: Is that stock or a modification?
Not sure if it was original or not, but it works great...straight shot cable pull. The other three I have seen pics of use either a GT brake contraption or a straddle around the seat tube. Cable passes just barely over bottle cage bolts which isn't a problem since I haven't run a cage since the 90's. Steve |
Wabi Special
Recently built up a Wabi Special (58cm, Anthracite) and have logged about 1000km's on it. In love with it, to say the least. The bike really starts to shine after the first 50km. Waiting on a 90mm VO Tall Stack Stem to swap the current 80mm stem out with.
I'll hopefully get around to posting a longer review soon, and why I ported the parts from Soma Rush onto the Wabi. http://s22.postimg.org/45mm02exd/wabi_special.jpghebergeur gratuit |

That's a really tidy looking Aventon. I like how you set it up.

What are the tires on this shred sled, and are they available for a not-ungodly sum? I quite like them.

Better pic you can click on and check out more pics of frame.
http://i1262.photobucket.com/albums/...pse1icsiwd.jpg Frame is a Retrotec Dirt Cycle guessing from 1992. It actually rides really well, but i am partial to the weird stuff and already have a Sligshot SS. Steve |

I like the Clement's, no flats and they roll fairly well for the price. Not as good as the Grand Bois Cerf 28's, though, which I'll admit I'll probably switch back to once these Clement's are worn. The cloudlike quality and speed of the Cerf's is noticeable, albeit with thinner tread and sidewalls. |
The Clement Strada LGG 28mm is what I have my Mr. Pink and they're every bit as wide as my 32mm Paselas. I'm sure you could fit 32s if you tried.
Unfortunately, I haven't had the same luck with flats. I'm on mine third flat in less than a month...twice for glass, once for a goathead. |
im so glad i didnt get any goatheads in my tire when we were in AZ
though i was practicing some morning yoga in sedona and as i was stretching out in cobra pose i caught one in my ****ing hand and it was like someone stabbed me with a rusty jagged icepick im getting angry just thinking about it |

There's a company that just released knock-off tires using the 90's Michelin green. It was one of those Acme "x" ABC collaborations. The actual tire company may have been Panasonic but I am not coming up with anything on google right now.
The Homage |
I <3 the homages and would love them to put them on something, but I'd kill for a 26" version :(

I likey very much. So far I've only been able to take it on a couple short test rides to ballpark the fit. First impressions: it seems to fit me a lot better than the Dolan did. Handling feels a little more squirrely at low to medium speeds, but when I put on the gas and sprint, it shoots straight ahead like a bullet. And I don't know if it's the resonance of the tubes or the way air breaks on it or what, but it seems to "sing" a little when I get up to speed, which feels pretty cool. Tomorrow I get to test it out on the track.

Nice! what kind of bars are those? and how do you like em?
If you're wondering how much a bar's drop+reach measurement makes a difference in ride fit, in my opinion (which cost a lot of $ to learn through trial and error) it's just as important as stem length+height. Compared to the Nitto Noodle bars I have on my tourer, the Dajia bars allow me to comfortably ride in the drops for long rides. Plus I really don't need the extra ramp space for mounting brake levers--the top curves function similarly to brake hoods in that my hands rest comfortably on top, and I can a get good leverage from them when climbing. I have seen these bars with drop levers on them though too, so that does work. However bars with longer, flat ramps are more suited for that. |

They're Dajia Shallow Drop Bars. They meet the aesthetic and function that I was looking for, highly recommended for the price.

the Nitto M151F may also be worth considering. Similarly priced to the Dajia. I have the Nitto B135 on my Wabi. It's also short reach/shallow drop, but has the rando flare which may or may not appeal to you. I like it a lot.
