I'm new here, but have enjoyed checking out other peoples' rides. Here is my first FG build that I've been riding for a few years.

I have the same Sekine frame but in Green. They made really great bikes for their short run in the 70's. I built mine up as a winter fixie with low-rider front racks and studded Schwalbe tires--felt like I was driving a war machine to work. Made Canadian winter riding so much fun!

Been a minute since I posted this thing. Here it is after 100 miles of gravel and washed out greenways.

Just got my Steamroller built up the other day. Quite pleased with the outcome. 35c Paselas are plenty plush, looks like I didn't need those 38c fatties after all, Scrod!

i appreciate the aesthetic qualities and component choices of this bicycle machine.
TL,DR; would. |
That Steamroller is ****ing perfect.

I like the hammer! The legcar in front of it isn't too shabby either!

Not that anyone is paying attention to the progress of my new bike, and I hate to steal attention away from that awesome Steamroller, but here's my new Kilo TT Pro as it sits right now:
http://www.pedalroom.com/p/2016-merc...ro-29406_3.jpg Main differences between when I last posted it are the removal of extraneous frame and wheel decals, and the addition of Pure Fix risers. Yes, I know that Pure Fix is not a highly regarded brand, but for the price they're awesome bars. Perfect width and shape for me, and the price could not be beat. I still have to fiddle with stem height and cut the steerer tube to match. I'll probably swap out that 120mm stem for a 110mm as well. |

Yesterday's project:
Swapped standard bullhorn bars for pursuit style. Went from bar end TT levers to cross levers. Re cabled (obviously). Trying some new fizik tape. Couldn't get a very good pic in the garage so this will have to do for now. |
the steamroller is very nice; nice work!

https://s31.postimg.org/3kg4aolmz/sekine.jpg Cheers to winter biking--here in Minneapolis, lots of people do it, but I'm a fair weather biker. I heard someone say that the twin cities is the largest market for fat tire bikes, but that's not FG/SS, so we won't mention that here. |

+1 what Scrod said. That Steamroller is perfect.
-- I got the new GPS/HRM sorted out on the fixed gear bike. Decided to not to follow the Garmin herd and went with a Polar V650 instead. Rode it like this yesterday for 38 miles. No complaints. Here it is for posterity. https://www.dropbox.com/s/lp9en1ywix...6.000.jpg?dl=1 The mount is a Barfly from Tate Labs. I emailed Tate Labs with a question about the mount after receiving it and they pulled my phone number from my email signature and called me about a half hour later. Can't say enough about this company. A+ and will be ordering another for the road bike. https://www.dropbox.com/s/1mx85tpruj...6.007.jpg?dl=1 https://www.dropbox.com/s/oy2uklb1fw...6.002.jpg?dl=1 Sensors are Wahoo RPM magnetless. Clearance with Dura Ace cranks is super tight and the only place it the cadence sensor would fit without hitting the chain stay was stuffed into the crank spider behind the drive side crank arm. https://www.dropbox.com/s/irz4tvjq3y...6.010.jpg?dl=1 https://www.dropbox.com/s/p9g9de1nx9...6.009.jpg?dl=1 Wabi Sub15 hubs are thin and mounting the speed sensor required a 5/8 fuel line shim. https://www.dropbox.com/s/yhjwoebfrk...6.011.jpg?dl=1 Bottom line is that I'm pretty happy with the setup and don't think it takes too much away from the aesthetic. At least it's not as bad as I thought it would be. Wish everything came in chrome tho. https://www.dropbox.com/s/7j8u9trrkc...6.012.jpg?dl=1 -Tim- |
Does the Polar have auto syncing with Strava or anything?

The Polar version of Garmin Connect is Polar Flow Web Services. Right now I have Flow Web connected to Strava. Literally took two clicks to set up and it sends my rides to Strava about 10 seconds after I sync the device. Also supports forwarding to Facebook and Training Peaks. I can sync the device via Bluetooth with the Flow app on my iPhone and let the phone send to Flow Web or I can sync via USB when I get home. Either way, Flow Web sends to Strava no problem. -Tim- |

Hmm, very interesting! I was thinking about a garmin 820, but I might have to look into the polar line before I do.

Farm bicycle with French sensibilities. Thrifty Motobecane aluminum frame (won't rust in the winter when they lather up the roads with salt), Stonglight cranks (50T, old 23.35mm crank bolt is pricey), a box up front for carrying sundries and eggs home, Gatorskins when its warm, Schwalbe CX-pro when it gets cold.

^^ I dig it. Watch for corrosion though. Salt can do bad things to aluminum.
