Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Blends in? Check
Fast? Check
Carries my bikes? Check!

...no gumwalls, and it doesn't skid.

Taken at 80 mph by my buddies son on his cellphone. Not sure how it turned out like I am parked on a highway because I wasn't.

I just meant my wheels look like they aren't even turning, not a blur, nothing.

I've been contemplating that rack setup for my '10 GT. How do you like it?
I've got the full glass roof.

I had to run it backwards even though they recommend that you don't for some reason. The roof on this car is not ideal for the vacuum cups so they went on the rear glass and it held much better. I also got rid of those wheels.

I've still got the stock "Track-pack" wheels on mine. I should have waited for a Coyote powered car to be in my price range, but the 4.6L is plenty fast and it has more fancy stuff than I could have asked for. The fact that it had 30k on it was really the deciding factor.

I'd imagine that the glass roof would have less of an issue mounting that rack the "correct way."

I moved to a set of the Brembo track pack wheels but coming home from Chicago this past September, I hit something in the road and blew the tire and destroyed the wheel. Finding a single track pack wheel is not easy and I needed new tires anyway. I happened on a set on Craigslist of '15 Performance Pack wheels in silver which apparently are hard to find, with tires, which were a take off with 75 miles on them. Timing was perfect and the wheels fit perfectly. The only drawback is that I am now running staggered instead of square.

And yeah you should be fine with that glass roof. I am envious of that.

That almost 100 HP over the 4.6L should quell that envy a bit.

I always thought fixed gear riders basically regarded cars as an unnecessary evil, particularly gas guzzlers.

The more you know...

Who has a gas guzzler? This thing averages 29 mpg on the highway, and I have even hit into the upper 30's/low 40's on the highway at lower speeds with the cruise on.

Im guessing this. Sliding a car is dumb, drifting as a sport is even dumber. Both are pretty damn fun in practice.

Like sliding a car, skidding a bike is dumb. It can also be pretty fun.

Should it be your only means of braking? No.

Does a track bike look better without brakes. Yes.

Does any of it matter? No, as long as you don't kill yourself and more importantly someone else.

Get some Paselas. Cheap enough to try out and ruin.

To be completely honest, I'm considering a sprinter van for my next vehicle...then quit my job and just go ride bikes forever.
So much this. I drive one of the most sought after Subarus by car nerds. I'd much rather go fast on my bike.

Very nice

I fell for the marketing and got that over glorified challenger not long ago. My lead foot gives it piss poor fuel economy.
