Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? I'd race tonight if it stays like this.

[edit: I mean, I, like, didn't go for a ride this morning so's my legs'd be fresh. I'd be pretty bummed if I ended up spending the evening redishing wheels or something.]

I'm feeling like some riding tonight, maybe at MIT, maybe not. But I want beer afterwards if I can interest anyone.

I would come out, but I'm feeling like...well, crap. Here's what happened: I went out for rides on Saturday and Sunday with my new and improved settings. I felt just fine. I was a little bit sore, but icing down my shoulder after the ride took care of it, and overall, I felt vastly better than before. Riding the bike didn't seem to really make the pain much worse at all.

Then Tuesday I went out for a fairly aggressive 25 km ride, and about halfway through it, that f-ing nerve (it *really* doesn't seem like the muscle) went off big time. I have no idea what triggered it. I was riding down in the drops quite a bit at that point, but given how short the ride was, that really doesn't seem like it was the cause. In any event, now I really am staying off the bike for a while, and as soon as I have time, I'm going in to MIT Medical to get it checked out. ****'s pissing me off.

Is it raining up north? It has been pouring steadily here in pvd all day, I forgot I had concert tix for tonight at the opera house ... no bikes tonight for me though my achilles tendon is fired up but, I'll meet up for a beers later if your around maybe 11'ish. Sounds like your century in NYC went well.

geez. . everyone's falling apart this week.
I'll swing by on the way back from allston tonight assuming it's not raining. Probably can't get a beer since I'm in over my head here at work.
Speaking of, Puma just sent us their "Messenger" video that they created with cinecycle. It's ... kinda boring. Though I'm not sure what I was expecting. I think you can get it at pumaville.com.

maybe we meet up around 9-9:30 and do a little warm up around town and then drop by the track and see if anyone is looking to race?

If so, then we race, if not, we drink?

But I don't usually organize these things, so tell me if I'm way out of line with a suggestion like that. I know its all crazy and "new age".

Generally you should only read the last half-dozen posts or so, as the thread isn't really about a sunday ride anymore, but about rides at any time. Tonight, for example, we're planning on meeting at the MIT track at around 10:30 and possibly grabbing a couple of beers afterwards. You should try to make it.

Yeah, it's super sekrit. We call it Sunday so that nobody catches on.

I will not be out tonight. More sekrit.

Alright then. No more posts in here. I'll start a new thread called Boston rides.
