Though if it does, at least you'll die with your bars wrapped. Unlike some people.

hahah I wish my fork crown would fail then explode than have to install another pair of soyo's.but once they're on, their not moving

Are you just trying to make a complete NJS build, for some inexplicable reason?

Careful not to scratch mom's/wife's/your washer and dryer.

And make sure to take that frame off before spin cycle starts. I'd hate to see it fall off!

mine were tough. the left went on really easy, but I had some trouble with the right. i used some SUPER HOLD something hairspray..and it would seize up before I could twist it up the bar and I had to keep respraying it.

;) well, it *is* the "keirin fixation" thread. if there were anywhere to hold onto that dream, this is it.

Sometimes I wish I was short enough to be able to ride a bike with drops that low and still be comfortable. Alas!

98% of the time is ontop of the drops

All for looks. People spend money in excess to have a less-than-functional stem that looks like the bike they saw on Velospace. I wouldn't wish for that!

As for getting your grips off, it's really easy guys. Just dip your a butter knife into some rubbing alcohol, and, pry the grip open, and slip the knife inside. Wiggle it around, get the alcohol everywhere, and it'll twist right off.

I swear drops were made for tall people with long arms. I'm short, I have stumpy arms; if I ride in low drops and I can't see more than ten feet in front of me without bending my neck at a horribly painful angle.

so i installed my black soyo grips last night and one thing i noticed while riding my 20 mile loop is that, when i was coming up to an intersection and upon leaning forward (to intiate skid)...my legs are getting "caught" on the rubber

womp womp

Fugazi Dave 11-10-07 12:48 PM

If you have to lean that far forward to get a skid going, I really hope you're not riding brakeless...

uhhhh....

even if i merely bend my knee and lean...a "lil" (less than i normally do), my jean will catch on the rubber.

and yes. i am riding brakeless (as seen like 10 or so posts up), i can skip, resist or whutever i have to do to stop, but it was scary when i went to skid today with my dad on our route and i couldn't move my left leg...

maybe i need a 150mm stem.

piwonka 11-10-07 01:15 PM

you lean that far forward to do a slow down skid?
that don't sound right.

no, to slow down i skip or skid sitting down (close to it)....

sigh...there is no point of me explaining this over the internet. just know that both the tt protector and grips are grabbing my jeans. and no i do not have skinny jeaned legs.

jdms mvp 11-10-07 01:19 PM

lol with that being said...does anyone want to buy white and black soyos? lol

OK, you must have very long femurs, then. I don't reall get leg/drop interference until I'm going into superman skid mode.

i actually have very short legs =\

i dunno, now i'm just trying to get these grips off so i can figure out what i want to do with them. maybe just cut the ends and slide them to the top of the drops + bar caps or wrap the bars or just bar caps and sell the soyos to someone who can ride better than me...

fixedmonkey 11-10-07 02:14 PM

Keirin doesn't like tall American's. Too bad for me. Maybe when i got to Nihon next year I can find one my size.....

If your bike is set up and fits you well there is no way I would add length in the stem just so my pants wouldnt catch during a skid. Especially since, by your own description, you dont need to go that far out to stop that often.

i was just kidding :P, the bike fits me well with the current 90mm stem. if anything my bike would be too small perhaps? but like i stated before...i believe i have short legs...im 5'6 and the frame is a 50.5cm c-t 52cm c-c

i will deal with this problem one way or anyone =P

sorry to thread jack , back to keirin!
