There was no toe overlap on that bike for me. Im not riding that frame anymore though.

That's a nice bike there!

I'm jealous.

frankie gee 01-14-08 10:06 AM

props on the omamori... i'm looking for a yellow traffic safety one at every shrine i go to as of a few weeks ago...

did your girlfriend make you attach that to your [brakeless] bike or was it your own choice? :D

what's that seat? is it comfy? i'm finishing up a yellow/black japanese bianchi pista
and all that i have left to customize is the seat/post.

Thanks.
My wife and I both have one on our bikes. Theyre from the shrine we were married at. Ill always run one from there.
The seat is an Ariake Jaguar. Most people look at it and call it uncomfy. For me its just fine really. Ive ridden it for about 9 months now.

So, no one brought this up yet?

http://njsframes.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

Vivalo is now Ocean? Hmmmm.

But I also had a question to those of you who know: when many keirin frames have no sticker indicating what tubing they are made of, what is the assumption, what tubing is used? Or is there no way of finding out?

andre nickatina 01-22-08 03:09 AM

^ ^ ^ I think it means 1) some owner removed the sticker or 2) multiple tubesets were used in the frame, so the builder didn't put a sticker on.

I see.

I'm asking this because I finally scored myself a Vivalo in almost NOS condition with no tubing sticker but no glue residue or anything else that would indicate there ever was a anything on the downtube there.

my nagasawa doesn't have a sticker depicting the tubing used. so i just assume it's pvc piping

a lot of builders have a standard set they use like Ishiwata or Kaisei something-something, and when they do something special they sticker it. or per the customer's request.

andre nickatina 01-22-08 09:54 AM

FYI, Ishiwata = Kaisei in the 80's. They closed their doors and 60 percent of the employees left to start Kaisei.

oldsprinter 01-22-08 09:57 AM

It worries me that Mr Nagasawa doesn't allow cutomers to choose their own tubing. He says he knows riders so well that they can trust him to choose the best tubing set for their needs - but surely he's used this as a ruse to get rid of some rusty old pipes on an unsuspecting punter now and then.

That said, if you asked for 853 and were given 753 with an 853 sticker would you realise? Most people wouldn't.

sashae 01-22-08 10:50 AM

Why does it worry you? The guy that's been building for 40+ years thinks he knows better than someone who reads tubing spec sheets?

Tanabe-san at Kalavinka offers tubing choices, but /strongly/ recommends certain setups for people. Hard to argue with experience.

mediccody 02-04-08 01:25 PM

I picture deathhare as some sort of bicycle terrorist with curly hair, a bad 80's moustache, a black hoodie, and aviators, riding around on a Nagasawa packed to the brim with C4 and ball bearings, just looking for a state or federal building lobby to park his bicycle in...

deathhare, what kinda wheels/rims have you got laced up and attached to that there sexy Nagasawa?

Thanks.
The rims are Carnival/DiaCompe GranCompe.
The hubs are Sansin.
The spokes are black.

mediccody 02-04-08 01:59 PM

By wheels/rims I think I meant to type hubs/rims. And yes, the spokes are black.

moe sizlack 02-04-08 02:02 PM

That Baramon is sexy as hell.
Seat/seatpost combo is pretty slick as well.

are they still active?..i havent seen many baramons out there, so i was pretty hyped to come across this one. and its in decent shape for being some 15years old! just a few nicks and scrapes, but the frame was chromed before paint. and the headset and bottom bracket are still buttery smooth!

i'll post it up in a few weeks when its done
