Some notes on tubing (not that I personally think street riders need to tune their tubing characteristics)..

Nagasawa only uses TANGE
Samson generally only uses COLUMBUS
3Rensho generally only used ISHIWATA

But some makers leave it completely up to the rider.

For whoever asked about VIVALO tubes.....Kusaka uses Tange (various), Kaisei (various), Columbus spirit keirin, Reynolds (various)..
So does Kalavinka and several other makers.

LEVEL frames are quite interesting because Matsuda San (?) will use various tubing in the same frame, to suit the riders needs....So maybe a Columbus seat tube, PVC pipe top tube, and Matrix Ozik TP7x SX flex down tube....

Yeah me too. And we all know color changes the riding characteristics vastly more that tubing ever will.

:)

Blue is lighter.
Red is faster.
I am sure Sashae has no photos to prove that statement to be incorrect.

parkerlewis 02-05-08 12:51 AM

PS Thanks for the photo....if it is real it is the first Columbus Naga I have ever seen.....actually the first Naga I have seen with a tube sticker of any type.

Thanks, that was me inquiring about the tubing. So this means there'll be no possibility of finding out about my Vivalo. I guess can live with that.

Yep, I've seen one with Ishiwata 019 sticker as well. I think all builders have a tubeset they prefer (Kalavinka, for instance, offers a ton of different tubesets but largely prefers to build in Kaisei/Ishiwata) but you'll always see some weird stuff. I've got photos of a very early 3Rensho with a Reynolds 531 sticker ;)

This one's a tetch odd as well..

sashae 03-20-08 12:13 PM

Nice Baramon... and yes, your chain tension looks a wee bit high.

mm i'm not sure, the flat end with the mks stamp facing out didn't quite line up with the insets. flipped the way you see it, it slots in better. i also had to file the adjusters down a few millimeters to slide back and forth in the dropouts smoothly

Good job with the color-match.

deathhare 03-24-08 02:28 PM

The washer type part of the chain tensioners belongs on the inside of the dropout. Looks like you have it on the outside beneath the track nut. Unless that's just something else im seeing.

jdms mvp 03-24-08 02:34 PM

nice exposure on pedalmafia. "formula to deep Vs" ;)
