I have asked for prices on their frames and was surprised at some of them, like 1000 for a Makino. They can set the prices where they want but it def makes it harder for us to get "good prices on them." It determines the the prices for other sellers. The best priced deal I think I have found as of late and missed out on was a 54.5 Makino on KC for 700, deep marron with rainbow flake and chrome rear triangle I believe no dents/scratches. I was pretty heartbroken when I saw that it was sold. Oh well

* do I really need another frame?

keirin culture = affordability imho

i found it aite, to order from japan direct (although middle man fees suck) i still made out with some nagasawas for the price of some of these dented vivalos and crashed frames =P

Maybe I'm crazy, but something about handing a ton of money over to some dude doing business on his blog sketches me out.

Don't worry nobody is getting rich over here. It is hard work, and frame prices are not what they used to be. I saw a Nagasawa frame go for over 120000 yen on yahoo auc a few months ago. I just had to get a shop to work from, Gabe has a Office/Shop....it gets expensive renting in Japan. American dollar is terrible right now too.

jim-bob 04-03-08 07:18 PM

Must suck to be a middleman.

I guess there's always a real job!

;)

yup i order from YAJ

i've seen alot of the frames that end of on these blog sites, many of which ended for half of what they are asking.

TDHK 04-03-08 07:51 PM

PL,
I hear what your saying. It hard to be on this side of the transactions sometimes but I understand that one has to be profitable and pay rent and the etc... Let me jus say that I appreciate having people like yourself and Gabe doing this type of business for us who do lust for these things.

yea i live in maryland  =)

there are a couple ways including middle men who
1. will bid on your behalf
2. ship to their warehouse
3. ship to you via EMS (u pay shipping, $90 a frame + whatever else fits in the box)
4. charge u cost of item, cost of shipping, and like 10% commission + bank fees

it's not pretty honestly BUT in the case where u can find steals*...it's worth it imho
ie. i bought dura ace cranks 7600 + custom nuevos + kashimax sprint straps + 4 dura ace rings + mks small clips for around $220 shipped :D

another way to get frames is to purchase a container and have a contact in japan to fill the container with your stuff....a couple of my friends buy containers to fill with car parts and bikes. (complete)

so yea, there are ways to get frames... not pretty and sometimes a long wait.

How does the blogspot.com work? I don't see any buy, add to cart or checkout. Is it like a private sale?
Am looking to buying a frame from one of these guys just want to know how to go about it safely.

andre nickatina 04-03-08 10:55 PM

Someone sell me a Grand Velo for $350 that I can beat around town on. At least, that's what I got my first keirin frame for w/o adding in shipping...

jussik 04-04-08 01:54 AM

I not criticizing the people with these blogs and their prices, it's really cool that all that stuff is available for us. Nothing wrong with making a bit off profit from the work you do. Big up to Parkerlewis here, and Gabe, for example, seems to set his prices according to the condition of the frames he is selling, even if he is not selling them cheaply.

But I also agree that some of those blogs look a bit more shady, like the super makuri one and the tokyo fg, and I might personally not buy anything from them.

On the other hand, IMHO the best prices can still be had off Ebay - with some patience.

Also Ebay & Paypal do offer some proper buyer protection, no matter what people say about that. I recently had a nasty incident with an Ebay seller abroad who packed a DA crankset very poorly and the left crank went missing during the shipment, then the evil ******* wouldn't even reply any emails and I was totally ****ed up. But after taking the issue up with Paypal I eventually got all my money back AND got to keep the right crank I received. PL then got me a brand new left crank and everything was good again.

Ey, dh, what bars did you chop for your Nagasawa? Its angles look sweet and functional. Just some narrow b123's?
