nice build. glad it has finally come together. what length are those cranks?

ps. i've personally ridden the kashimax for 20+ miles and honestly it's ok, not "comfortable" but bearable.

Can't decided which is worse.. the keirin dressed up in her glitzy tt pad and striking blue makeup like a $10 ***** or the zebradisk, oury-bullhorns thing.

its not too bad, I've ridden 300+ miles total on a stripped Selle SLR. so its not a big step from the kashimax. but yeah anything over 20 miles can be a little annoying..

the cranks are 165mm

haha, both of those are bikes i'd figure you'd ride pea.

I have to love that bomber pro. I like over the top bikes like this. Mainly because I am bored to death with average bikes (too much time looking at velo/fgg) Equally silly and great.

Riding a Mavic iO is going too far. There are very good riders riding for poorer squads/nations who need that wheel - to do what it's made for - set records, win medals, ride 6-days.

It's the best track wheel ever made. It shouldn't be slowly destroyed on the road. If he wanted to get rid of some dollar bills he should have donated some money to Amnesty Intl or Oxfam.

Showing off on a wheel like that while guys in the Indonesian team (I'm choosing them because I used to train with them) can't afford one - and they're going to the Olympics.

rant over.

This

WTF is he doing riding an iO in the street?
Jackass!
where's dutret when you need him.

kmart 12-09-07 10:33 AM

LOl @ zebra IRO decked out in Aero Cardboard Tubing Technology (ACTT).

bonechilling 12-09-07 01:05 PM

Awesome. I hope this thread becomes another "aero wheels on the street" thread, and the New York posters show up to talk about penguins and share inside jokes.

JellyMeetsJam 12-09-07 01:25 PM

I don't hate every single aero wheel on the street, hell if you wanna run an aerospoke go right ahead. It's just that wheel is so goddamn expensive/nice.

bonechilling 12-09-07 01:27 PM

Oh yeah, I agree that anyone riding a Mavic IO in the street is a complete ******bag and a shining example of conspicuous consumption. This seems to be the prevailed attitude since the "street-wear" types started buying track bikes.

just to put it out there....but the owner actually rides track with it

that IRO confused me really bad when i first saw it. and at the time i acutlaly thought it was cardboard lol.

it's custom welded i suppose to have those aero properties in the back. imho it's not the worst i've seen.

well one thing is also which type of pants shorts one is wearing while riding the saddle. in biking shorts the kashimax won't bother you imho. jeans...another story.

stek_ 12-12-07 12:49 PM

the dude in that last photo is a friend of mine on flickr. and I think he co-owns Shop Gentei....
heres an older pic of the same bike

oliver

piwonka 12-12-07 01:26 PM

yeah, i think i remember one thread where john prolly was talking about oliver's mad steez or something. so he's riding a super badass track wheel on the street and is associated with shop gentei johnprolly and the NYC fixed gear freestylerz. not surprising.

goldenskeletons 12-12-07 01:31 PM

yeah! i hate people who have friends too.

you tell 'em, 'Wonkers!

Oh no, here come prolly, queerpunk, and goldenskeletons!

goldenskeletons 12-12-07 01:52 PM

thank you, bones "too-sensible-for-friends" chilling.

you can cry foul on me defending my friends all you want, that doesn't stop us from riding bikes and laughing about this later.

piwonka 12-12-07 02:12 PM

it has nothing to do with hate. i'm just saying i'm not surprised that there is an association...or that one of the NYCFGF'z would run that mavic wheel on the street. hopefully that's not a vittoria rally on the front wheel, lol.
