i dunno... expensive aero track wheel worthy of national competition or not, i just think this is an ugly bike. the vomit frame color, the over-the-top twisted lace job on the rear, the white saddle and grips in contrast to the black wheels, the stickers/logos all over the wheels. for a bike that the owner probably put some thought and effort into the aesthetics, it's just not appealing to me.

deathhare 12-12-07 09:00 PM

That bike needs a rear disc wheel. What a loser :)

jodypolk 12-12-07 09:05 PM

i agree on everythign but the frame/saddle color. i love me some banana bikes.

nateintokyo 12-12-07 09:20 PM

lose the stickers and get same-colored tires and I am okay with it. Aside from the ruining-expensive-track-wheels part, of course.

dooktruck 12-12-07 09:37 PM

it's a nice frame
just a horrible build
but at least he didn't put a B17 on it
dude will be driving a bmw in 2 years anyway
who cares

Ah I have seen that other bike (cinelli sticker on disc) in issues of maybe Spy Master, or Eyes Cream or something, in 2 different guises. Great bike. I am sure he just wishes he was prudent enough to buy a mavic open pro in the first place, rather than endure the misery that a life filled with carbon wheels must bring....
Now all haters, please go and kick your bike twice.

dooktruck 12-13-07 09:57 AM

^^^^^says the guy with the pink sexual handlebars and the B17

parkerlewis 12-13-07 09:23 PM

No the brooks had to go....I just didn't like it. No excuse. Pink sexual bars! I stand by them....sexual til I die.

Update pic....
sexual velvety nos selle rally saddle, new octalink cranks/bb, aero campa post, superbe pedals, crystal stem, nitto riser, へこみdisc....

deathhare 12-13-07 09:24 PM

Does that disc wheel accept a lockring?

parkerlewis 12-13-07 09:25 PM

and yes very cheap tubies by vittoria! 1480 Yen. Been serving me well (enough) for 9-10 months.

Deathhare - no. suicide only. Loctite.

deathhare 12-13-07 09:45 PM

It works ok? I saw a disc wheel the other day i liked but was hesitant to run no lockring.

parkerlewis 12-13-07 09:49 PM

yeah I know what you mean. I was fortunate that my mechanic (who does work for Keirin guys etc..) had been running the same disc with the same system (or lack of) for about a year already with no hassles, so I thought I would have a crack.
I would much rather have a lockring of course, and am casually looking for another disc which has one....this disc was very cheap so I grabbed it for about 32000Y I think. Before loctite, you really need to clean both surfaces really well.
Damn, I have not thought about it for a while, now you have got me feeling nervous!

deathhare 12-13-07 09:51 PM

There's no way i would ride that on the street in traffic. :)
What do you mean...your mechanic?
You're on some race team?

Oh No 12-13-07 09:51 PM

aren't disc wheels kind of dumb to run on the street?

edit: oops

parkerlewis 12-13-07 10:44 PM

Oh no - dumb to run on street? maybe... I dont know......great question.

Deathhare - Sorry; bad wording.... I have all my own tools/wheel building stuff now, but when I first got here (japan) he did hub conversions/wheel building for me, and builds most of the bikes getting around Osaka, probably. Very busy guy, only does track bikes.

deathhare 12-13-07 10:48 PM

I see i see...i thought you were racing or something for some reason. I dont know why. Maybe im thinking about someone else.

this reminds me of bonechilling's bridgestone set up for track, minus the stickers and plus a set of B123s.

a.k.a. the hipster version of his serious track racer*

You know Andre, slowly, piece by piece I am building a bike with the pure intention of pleasing your eye.
Note the 3 spoke replacing the Corima 4? :)

Hipster vs Track racer battle, huh? Nice idea, that could be a thread.
Your right about the risers (but i care so much more about my neck/back and grip positions than the beautiful look of the 123's. I will never use the drop section on the street. The Apple sticker however, makes up for all my hekomi-cover up stickers, and all the stickers on mine are from people/friends I have met along my travels in Japan. A disc wheel diary. The other side stays blank.
I do not know anybody who think risers are nicer than drops, people I know just run them because they have to. Drops are awkward on the street in contrast, especially for changing direction quickly.
I really like that Bridgestone, bonechilling seems to always have nice bikes....

br995 12-14-07 08:36 AM

32000 for a hekomi'd disc doesn't sound that cheap to me.
