back on topic though, drinking while you ride is fantastic. you aren't a true cyclist until you know how to pour a proper head in a water bottle.

+1

but i will add that i tend to push it a bit more while sober and most of my most traumatic experinces seem to occur while sober

automobile crashes (track & street)
motorcycle crashes (track only never touched down on street)
skateboard & bmx
as well as in general life being both times i got shot i was dead sober...

so maybe being sober doesn't work for me as well as my being intoxicated in some manner

that being said, getting drunk all day today, first time in weeks

The only thing I like better than biking is puking on straightedge kids after shots and beers.

God I ****ing hate preachy straitedge dip****s.

In fact, I think i'm going to dedicate my life to negating the straightedge cause ala Maddox (https://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=sponsor)...

For every beer you don't drink, I'm going to drink three
Beer 1- For me
Beer 2- The one you should be drinking
Beer 3- This one is just because you are straightedge.

Not sure if this idea actually works, but it sure is spiteful. I like spite. And contempt.

Yeah, sure you're "not preachy". And this thread was actually going to accomplish something other than a bunch of boneheaded remarks from the terminally dissatisfied.

There are much worse ways to destroy ones' self than having a few beers and riding a bike around. We all make our own choices. Find validation within yourself, kiddies.

And for god's sake, don't be afraid to change your mind.

One thing that kinda scares the crap out of me is I never remember the ride home from the bar. I'll leave mostly (relatively) sober. But once I get on my bike, I guess I start superprocessing all the alcohol still left in my stomach. That's my theory, anyway. But I can never remember any details of the ride home or what route I took or if I got in any fights with the downtown bums.

But I do remember making myself a sandwich and posting stupid stories on the internet afterward.

Oh well.

Oh, and I also like to drunk drive through school zones. I put puppies in pillowcases and throw them in the river when I drink. Not because I'm a ****ing lunatic. It's because I drink. And only because I drink. And, boy, do I drink. It's good to have something to blame for my behavior and it's good to have people who will buy it.

If only there was an answer to all my teenage angst? A convenient, easy answer to the ills of the world...oh yeah! It's alcohol use!

Everyone who enjoys alcohol is dumb. And has a failing liver. And kills people. Especially those that choose to ride bikes! That is, when they're not raping their friends.

Oh, the bliss of ignorance!

Now let's all dress up like punks and fight it. On the internet! That'll do a whole lot of good!

It's cool. I always figure it's people like you who will provide me with a perfectly healthy liver 20 years down the road when mine's failing from alcohol abuse and you've died of sheer boredom/ killed yourself because no one understands your disaffectation/ or pissed the wrong drunk off with your preachy straitedgeness. Thanks organ donors!

that happens to me, too. i mean, i leave the bar drunk, but i remember everything. then i ride home, and my memory ends shortly after being on the bike. next thing i know, i'm home eating weirdass **** and looking at BF. and i remember that the next day.

wow. look at the monster i've created. i actually meant very little harm in the original post. I don't see drinking as a bad thing. ****, i bought my dispatcher beer cause he's closing tonight. i wish people weren't so quick to jump down throats. lumenredundas included. i love you man, but there's really no need for that. you aren't going to change minds by yelling at people. it just doesn't work. whatever. i'll save the lecture. sorry. i just had a chucle over some of the stuff people have done while drinking. it doesn't make you evil. i could give a ****. do what makes you happy. it's when you start affecting other things i start to care (go vegan (i had to)). yeah. hate me. it's cool. but know me. and you, at least most of you, don't.

peace love respect unity (yeah, it's an anti-flag thing, but it works)

word.
I'm all for the "you do your thing and I'll do mine" attitude from someone, whether they be straightedge or a ****ing alcoholic. I have no problem with people choosing not to drink, and actually respect them for choosing a path and following it.

I do have a problem with all the peeps who try to decry my path as the wrong one, associate me with *******, tell me that my liver is going to fail, all because I choose to indulge in a substance that is perfectly legal, and in most cases harmless when consumed in moderation. I see that attitude in too many sxe kids, the "my way or the hiway" sorta philosophy. **** that.

Sorry for derailing your thread.

See I think drugs have done some good things for us. If you don't think drugs have done good things for us then do me a favor. Go home tonight and take all of your records, tapes and all your CD's and burn them. Because, you know all those musicians who made all that great music that's enhanced your lives throughout the years? Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreal ****ing high on drugs, man. - Bill Hicks

except for frank zappa, his music is amazing and he only smoked cigarettes.

not at all. i'm down for discussion. i'm not down for name calling and yelling. there's no point. if you wanna fight, let's throw down. but not over the internet, and sure as hell not about something as stupid as this (unless we're good friends and just get down like that.) seriously though. fighting is stupid. anyone from here comes from out of town to nacccs or 12 monkeys and i'll buy you a beer. you'll know who i am.

it wasnt an easy answer to teenage angst. it came from dissatifaction from working in the dare program and with MADD. that and compounded by more and more personal experiences, i didnt want to sit idly by and watch my friends and family die off from others bad choices. ill be the first to admit i wont jump at you and slap a beer out of your hands or put out a cig if your smoking near me. that does nothing, except piss people off. **** most of my friends drink, my roomate drinks. i let people do what they want to do, but i want to make sure people can stay within their safety zone and if they do happen to get a little tipsy id rather see them home my self then let them endanger their lives and potentially others. yeah i sound snotty and arragant, but when so many ****ty things have happened to the people that are closest to you you cant but help and get a little pissed off and point fingers. i am for education and compassion before militant actions. if you ask any of my friends when i am at the bars with them, who is the person driving everyone home, whos holding hair when they puke.
the only reason i snapped like i did was because it seemed like some people were glorifing being drunk and riding and thinking of them selves and indistructable people. i dont want the little kids(if there are any) in here to think that bike culture is all about bar hopping and riding the night away without consiquence.

oh and you will get one of the most resilant livers out there if you happen to get mine. chances are high that you could get it. i dont plan on living anylonger than 40, anything after that age is a waste to me. seniority and senality dont seem to appealing to me.
