I ordered some Chrome knickers today.

They are going to be great. After talking to 3 guys that have(and love) them, I decided to go for it. Attractive color, nice cut, wicking chamois, stretchy material, quick drying, made in the USA. I'm going to wear them all summer.

They are pretty expensive, but I look at it this way: they are casual looking technical clothing that will make life easier. I spend a lot of time in the saddle, and a pair of nice cycling shorts + a pair of cutoffs costs only slightly less, with much less convinience. I'm sure I'll get my money's worth.

Like bikes and gear, write it off as a business expense.

Bikes: generic lugged track frame

im still torn between the chrome knickers, or these:
rock climbing pants
i feel like the knickers will be better for biking, but i might be working at a place that requires full length pants. climbing gear seems like it could suit biking very well.

Bikes: Titus road, Fort CX

After your swimming yesterday, I thought pants would never be in your future again.

climbing pants are great for riding... prana has some nice stuff. i am not sure about the model you linked to, but all my prana pants are made of quick-dry material and have snaps so that when you roll up the legs on your pants you can snap them in place (which is nice, though i dont really have a problem with pants unrolling on me). also, they are very stretchey so that you have unrestricted movement when climbing, which is comfortable for me when riding. they also make a 3/4 length knicker very similar to the chrome's.

It was a nice day today

so i rode to the bikeshop to pick up the shants

everyone was playing on the interwebs

except for kevin, who was busy with someone's fixie conversion

chris the ups man showed up but did not have my shants

lucky for me, they were in the BACK ROOM!

i stripped down in the bathroom and pulled those things on

and had kevin take a shot of me demonstrating the stretch fabric

then i rode home and tested those ****ers out

the verdict- sweet. i'm gonna wear the **** out of these things.

i wore mine while riding for the first time today and they're great. i bought a medium which fit nicely when i was at the chrome shop a week ago, but after a week of eating like an idiot and not riding they were a touch tight today. still insanely comfortable though. they are cut a little longer than i'd like, but i can deal with it.

i tested out the pockets by riding with keys in one pocket and my cell in the other, both in the cargo pockets and hip pockets and in both cases it was totally comfortable. i couldn't even tell i had anything in the cargo pockets while riding.

So how does it feel now that you finally have shants wrapped around your loins?

Is the pad sewn directly onto the pants, or is it like a sewn-in piece of underwear?

Bikes: beater single-speed

i was looking at these at my lbs and was really considering a pair until someone pointed me to the Rapha site. overcome with a fit of gear lust (and a fat bonus check burning a hole in my pocket) i bought a pair of the Rapha Fixed shants. i wanted something that could be pinned down around the cuff and these look like they fit the bill more than the chrome ones. they shipped on monday so i'm hoping they'll be here by the end of the week. i'll post back when i get a chance to try em out, see if the extra 20 bucks is worth it (i suckered my cousin into signing up for their mailing list so i could get 20% off).

We totally need a review -- plus dead on front photos. I'm dead curious about those pants and the photos are sort of iffy on the site cuffed up like that.

Bikes: '06 Vanilla touring, '09 Vanilla cx, Zanconato cx, Moots Psychlo-X RSL prototype, Nagasawa track, Kalavinka track, Black Cat 29er, Cannondale Rize 2 26er, Serotta CRL Legend

I got a pair of the Chromes as well, incredibly great riding pants. I can finally retire my filthy and hole-shot pair of BDU shorts...

Could someone post dead on front photos? All I see are photos from the side and I wanted to see how baggy or form-fitting these are.
