Seriously Dutret... shut the **** up. It was a hit and run by a car vs a bicycle. Who gives a ****? Someone is now seriously hurt because some ****tard couldn't man up to what they did.

Adam... I hope you heal up perfectly. **** that ***** in the car, and be safe. I hope somehow someone finds the car driver.

Adam, I was run over by a truck three weeks ago, and the cop gave me a ticket*while I was in the ambulance with a crushed foot (truck ran over my foot and bike).

The key to my healing is that I focus on getting better, not feeling sorry or guilty about myself. Or feeling hate for the driver. Or the need for compensation of any kind. A bike will come your way. Watch and see. Stay positive.

You survived for a reason. It could have been much worse. You obviously are needed here on earth.

How? 128 is injured because he lost control of his bike and rode out into traffic. If the driver had stayed he would still be just as injured and his bike just as wrecked. Why does it matter if it was car vs bike or car vs car or bike vs bike. The driver hit someone and he should have stayed but the fact that he didn't did not in any way worsen 128s condition since there were thankfully other people there to get help for him.

Bikes: recumbents

you guys are taking what Dutret says too seriously (or atleast getting too offended by it) he has a point. I too wanted to know who was at fault or atleast what the details of the wreck were. I'm not going to say too much about this or that or whether he should've had a brake or not, but one thing to consider is, he said he was turning right and the car in the closer lane slowed to let him in but the car in the further lane is the one that hit him. I know mistakes happen and accidents and **** but to fly out into traffic when you should be yeilding AND to have to take both lanes is disastrous as 128 found out. Maybe the first car that slowed acted as a blind spot for the car that actually hit 128...that absolutely gives no right for that driver to keep on driving but it is very possible that happened.

128, sorry to hear about your accident dood.

EDIT: i re-read that post about what happened, i now see the inside lane car hit him and the outside lane driver saw him.

Your right, but losing control of the bike wasn't intentional, so it isn't like he decided to bomb some intersection and large hill on purpose. If a man is walking down the street, trips into an intersection and gets hit, is he at fault. The way I am taking this accident is that Adam was riding his bike, something went wrong, he lost control, tried to fix it by going into the flow of traffic and away from the intersection, and some driver came up and hit him in the inside lane. Yes, Adam got in trouble because of losing control and the accident was most likely not intentional, but the fact that it happend and the driver was too ****ing stupid to stay and help out, makes it the drivers fault completely.

bad analogy. a bike on the road is (legally and otherwise) a vehicle and takes responsibility as such. you also also forgot the drunk factor.
either way, heal up and get back out there.

How many times do we have to remind 128 of the facts of his condition?

Stay on topic, this thread was created to help him find a temporary budget frame.

How would you feel in his place? Everyone here has made a mistake before....

If you have a suggestion for a frame in his size, offer it. No one asked for legal opinions.

Now back to our regular program...

Adam, the Bike Kitchen & Swap Meet sound like excellent ideas. PM those guys, and you will be taken care of.

Seeing this thread reminds me of why I don't come here anymore.

Dutret, you're the worst kind of self-righteous *******. Chip on your shoulder and everyone is your target, you must live a miserable little life, but it's ok, you probably cover it up by acting happy-go-lucky and self-assured, maybe not, either way, you're a pathetic little man for beating someone when he's down (very down).

I'm not beating anyone when he's down. I said nothing when he was admitting that he was at fault and saying how he something stupid yet avoidable. However, now in his plea for help/sympathy he conviently left out any mention of his own fault in the incident. I'm sick of jackass cyclists doing stupid **** and then whining when they have to pay the price. The damage sounds like it's temporary and mainly to his pocket book so maybe he will learn a lesson and not do stupid reckless **** in the future.

Everyone likes to say that responsibility for choosing to follow traffic laws, having a brake, doing whatever the **** you want on a bike should rest solely on the individual.... Well then so should the responsibility when your choice in the above matters causes you to get injured and destroy your bike.

Woah, Hoss....the OP did not ask for sympathy, he didn't even ask for a new bike...he said he needed a frame to ride while his frame was in the shop.

Re-read the entire scenario from the beginning, for now it is you who is careening downhill, drunk on your own hubris.

This too shall pass....all will return to dust.

You are actually the one who said he created the thread to ask for help. I think sympathy is a much more likely.

+1

He didn't ask for anything, just stating his current position. You are beating him while he's down, and coming off like a soapbox ***** while you're at it.

It is not small stuff, he can hardly walk or talk right now, and money is tight.

I will say it again Dutret is a soapbox b1tch with a chip on his shoulder and little tiny chicken-legs.

Big stuff is not riding for a year or even a few months. In the general scheme of what is likely to happen when you go careening down a hill into traffic with no ability to slow down he got off pretty light.

Dutret, you are a relatively smart fellow.

What do you call an expert who relies on only his/her own opinions, but has no real facts or experience?

Have you seen him?
no

I have, he did not get off lightly. He is messed up, and you're still a ****ing *******.

He's limping like woah, can't talk, and in pain.

You're over there hunched at your computer doling out self-righteous statements while a person who was riding happily with me two weeks ago is unable to function. He's not saying that it wasn't his fault, he's not trying to find the person who hit him, he's just stating his position, and you have to kick at him because he left himself vulnerable, just like a schoolyard bully. **** you.

It's time for [165] and the others to review this thread. It has turned into a violation of BikeForums standards and practices, and said violator needs a vacation for their aggressive transgressions.

Unless said transgressor offers a formal apology, this should be the next step. Read the rules.

You speak about responsibility, no? You agreed to these rules of harmony when you signed up, now you have broken them. Accept responsibility, or accept the consequences.

Offended parties please report said posts to the moderators, and keep the flames to the PM's. Thanks.

how does fault play in to offering sympathy for injuries? it doesn't, unless you're a self-righteous prick just looking for a reason to spew out babble for no other reason than to wallow in ignorant self-pleasure.
