Thanks!

I posted in this thread earlier asking about the following bike, but simply asked if it was worth $300 (which I now understand why it's not after doing a lot more research and spending more time here), but what would be reasonable to offer for it? I'm still very much leaning towards getting a Mercier Kilo TT and upgrading it as my budget allows over the next few months, but there isn't harm in offering the guy something lower if he's not getting any other response for that much.

Thoughts?

As sad as it is, someone has destroyed your (and mine) faith in humanity----that POS conversion sold for......$1200 with a BIN. I cannot believe it, I almost want to message the guy to tell him to cancel payment. That poor *******.

****. I'm really hoping some prankster used a fake account to make that ******* seller pay relisting fees.

I wouldn't offer more than $20 for that. It's a couple of gas pipes welded together to form what looks like a bicycle. If these are your only options, get the Kilo.

A new account with private feedback? I'd say that the bidder is most likely a scammer.

Got another that looks to be priced way too high, but I could be wrong.

http://austin.craigslist.org/bik/586051110.html

$375 for a Peugeot with a bunch of seemingly nice components.

Most of the savvy forum members could build this bike exactly like this for about $200 or so. A Peugeot is an okay frame but they can be had for $20, the wheels are maybe $150, the rest can be found by scrounging around and/or trades. I guess that for an extra $175, it could be a lot worse, like that Free Spirit you posted the other day.

Unless I can talk the guy down $100 or so I don't think I'd go for it, the brand new Mercier is still probably the better route. Thanks for the reply.

Check these out, they may be something useful, you never know: http://austin.craigslist.org/bik/594563354.html

Add some wheels from: http://shop.greatdealsonbikes.com/me...tegory_Code=TR

Ride it until the Kilos come in and then sell it for, judging by your CL, a huge profit.

PERFECT FOR DUI VICTIMS! because people who get their license suspended for a DUI are "victims". I wonder what you call the people that get run over by drunk drivers?

If you read some of the less well-informed corners of the internet, they are. And MADD are the persecutors.
